Buy any stock un-modified MAF that is the same size off of ebay, and just swap the ends.

Look elsewhere. Your lack of MAF screen is not what's making your car idle funny. None of my 5 LS1s have had them and they all idled superbly.

You may have muck built up on your hot wire sensors. Try cleaning them with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip (gently).

My car didn't have a screen when I bought it. It idled fine but I wanted a screened MAF because my car is an A4. I paid $260 for a stock MAF at the local Pontiac dealer. Worth the $ in my opinion, but like said above, that's probably not your idle problem. Is your TB ported?

i descreened my maf when i bout my car, i dont think it ever messed with the idle. i did however trash 2 4l60's. i guess i'll never know if the 2 were related because i went to a th350 conversion.

People say descreening a MAF in an A4 car will eat the tranny up quick. That's why I gladly paid $260 for a brand new untouched MAF. Was this in the '95 in your sig?

Sometimes over oiling your K&N (if equipped) can cause the muck build up described. Food for thought.

Try getting some electrical spray cleaner so you don't risk bending one of the little wires when cleaning them, over oiling the filter as mentioned with screw with your car a little too. A descreened MAF in not the problem though.

Here you go. Check to see if all of your induction have good fitment. If some air is getting in where it should not be it will mess things up. If that does not work, go to the junk yard and get a screen of of a wrecked car. Sometimes you have to follow a wrecker to get stuff as soon as it hits the yard....good luck.

Spray cleaner probably won't work. I always had my best luck with alcohol and a q-tip. Just make believe you are petting an ant, and if the ant dies it will cost you a couple hundred bucks.

Those "people" are wrong. Knocking out the screen won't eat up the trannies, but running a ported MAF will. The screenless MAF makes little to no difference on the metering volume of incoming air (unlike a ported MAF).

thank you! that is a common misconception that everyone passes on. 4000 stall, trans go, de-screend MAF and no trans problems whatsoever, and i have over 50,000 on the car! if the trans were to go out because of the descreened maf, it would have done it a long time ago.

Thanks for the input guys. It seems whenever I come to a stop and clutch the car the idle goes up to around 1900rpms for a few second then drops down to 900-1000. This started when I had my LS6 intake installed, Ported Tb, and descreened the MAF. Ive just been told that descreening the MAF will mess with you idle....?

that sounds more like a vacuum issue. check for a leak. ported tb's can do it, but generally it will ALWAYS idle like **** if its a tb.

I would suspect your TB's to blame. May have too much air going past the blades from excessive porting...who knows? I'd look at that first.
