Arrow this might be dumb question, but

does anyone know if theres someone that makes a tb spacer for our cars??
I gotta sh** load of slack in my throttle cable, (cant go wot) and was thinking this would be a more permanent and reliable solution than what I've got rigged up now.
What I did so far is take up the slack at the pedal with some 3/8" vacuum line. Worked really good for awhile but not anymore, so either I suck at rigging stuff up, or theres gotta be a better way!
thanks guys!!

Sounds like you need a new throttle cable.
Do you have traction control?

I could be wrong, but I think there's a way to adjust the cable. Later today I'll take a look in my book and re-post unless someone else beats me to it.

great, thanks! I've looked everywhere, and theres no place to adjust it, thats why i got rigged the way I do, cause everyone said theres nothing I could do.
I was just hoping maybe there was a spacer of some kind to take up the slack

dude i got you covered

get a split sinker ( a small round lead fishing sinker with the split in it) and crimp it to the cable behind the cable stop

use any size from tiny on up to get the amount of slack out you need

Well, I do have TCS and there is an adjustment for my cable, but maybe they did not include one on the the others?

Much like the split sinker idea, Ive used this in the past:

Grab a solderless connector and pull the metal out from the plastic using some needle nose pliers. the metal connector looks much like a roll pin, and you can open it up a little using a knife. Then just crimp it around the cable. Also, i know it sucks, but youre better off crimping it under the pedal than trying to rig something up at the TB end.

I have some Extra chewing gum if you're interested. It lasts "an extra long time" for those critical repairs...

Sorry, I looked through the books twice and couldn't find anything.

I'd take a look (if you haven't already) at all the linkages, bushings and such and make sure that nothing's bent or missing.

I doubt that the cable could just stretch, but it might be possible I guess.

Maybe there's a 98-99 throttle body on his car? The cam is smaller and theres about a half inch of slack in the line.

The pedal - TCS servo run on my '02 was nonadjustable and
had about 3/4 inch of slack.

I fixed it by taking a piece of vacuum hose cut to length
and slit lengthwise. This goes over the cable between the
ball and the lever to take up the slack. Then get a piece
of heat-shrink tubing (the Radio Shack or Home Depot
assorted-sizes pack) that barely slides over the ball and
tubing, this keeps the hose from expanding. Shrink the
tubing tight (soldering iron, heat gun or Bic lighter if all
else fails) and button her back up, yer done.

Have you done anything to the car that could have affected this?
Is the gas pedal arm bent? The throttle bracket bent? The cable itself possibly fraying causing the slack? Is the sheath of the cable damaged anywhere?

I'm having a hard time with the band-aids on this one. It's not a smart idea to "rig" the throttle cable. That's a good way to get stuck somewhere...

Thanks for all your help guys.
Ive looked at all the linkages, bushing etc, and theres no way to adjust it.
Right now, Ive done exactly what jimmyblue has done minus the shrink wrap (probably why its not holding up).
As far as have i done anything to cause it? no, its always been this way, i just didnt realize until a little while back, that it wasnt opening up all the way, hence the "jimmyblue mod".
I really dont wanna just rig it, especially at the tb, thats why i was hoping for the spacer (got this idea from the BBK tb).
GuitsBoy and jimmyblue are on the same page as far as crimping it at the pedal, and thats probably what i'm gonna end up doing.
thanks again for all the help!
