Default SLP Exhaust Question

My car came with the SLP center mounted exhaust and was wondering about the muffler that is part of that package. Does anyone know anything about it? The car has a nice tone to it, not to loud, not quiet. However is it worth changing to something else?

Any insight is appreciated!

I have nothing against SLPs stuff at all. I just think there are better companys out there that flow better like the hooker cat back which is cheap compared to most. Like jerflash said, you have the dual dual I believe.

It is the SLP Dual/Dual muffler. It is a pretty conservative exhaust, which some don't like but it is a really good flowing exhaust. I have one on my car and really like it. If you ever get long tubes and an off road Y pipe, then you will really like it. It will be quiet at idle but will have a really good tone at WOT.

I have the cme and enjoyed the slp muffler. It flows great and isn't to bad when headers and a cam is added. I upgraded to a gmmg system which I had adapted to my cme tips. I got tired of going to car shows and not being able to hear my own car. Now the sound is awsome

Shame the hooker doesn't flow as well as the SLP.

Yeah the Dual Dual is very conservative. My car makes more noise than one of my friends car. He has the Dual Dual with Hooker's and a ORY. If you want to make noise and set off car alarms go with the Loudmouth. If you are not planning on getting Header's. But if you do change and don't mind spending money go with GMMG. It is pure music. Especially with Longtube's and no Cat's. I could kick my butt for not getting one.

I think SLP/GM claimed 10 or 15 hp extra if you got the optional SLP cat-back on SS & Firehawks. Compare the intermediate pipe to a stocker on a "regular" Z28, Formula or T/A..........noticeable difference.

If you're happy with the sound, I'd leave it.

Personally, my SS is the FIRST car I've ever had (78, 92, 95 Z28's & 85 Corvette) that I was happy with the exhaust tone and had NO desire to change the muffler.

It's a nice, big, stainless muffler and I believe it's common to
D/D and CME (just the last couple of feet of plumbing and the
valance differ). If you want more noise, add the cutout like I
did. You can run this muffler with no / gutted cats and it sounds
nice and healthy, but not crude.
