Default Single or Dual cutouts?

Just wondering which is more popular?? If there's really that much gain with running dual cutouts, or whether its just a "loud" factor, instead of a "power" one..Any help? pros/cons,etc.(setup is LT's,ory, catback)

IM going with duals to help with ground clearance and sound. My single in the I-pipe hangs too low.

A single cutout in the I-pipe is most popular because it is cheap and sounds pretty good, not to loud, not too quiet. I have dual cutouts in the y-pipe and love them. It is VERY loud and there is a significant power gain high in the power band, simply because my cat-back sucks. It loses some low end thought because of the reduced backpressure. Most people don't go this route because of the price, the lack of clearence, too loud, etc...

Has anybody done a comparison, between a single and a dual cutout?

Duals before the cat, if you have cats in a long tube
setup. Single in the I, if the muffler is your last remaining
restriction.

My I-pipe single doesn't cost me any clearance but some
locations / installations might.

What about the rear o2's.....wouldn't you trip a code if you had the cut outs before the cats and didn't have sims in there?

Rear O2's? What are those for?

If you're running long tubes with cutouts before the cats, you've probably deleted you rear O2's by then.

Chances are you will lose ground clearance with two in the y-pipe. My car is lowered and my y-pipe scrapes occassionally. I love the duals in the y though, open them and it's practically like open headers. Have a muffler place make you some cheap turn downs, it will help with the interior vibration a ton.

I have a hooker 3" ypipe, dual 3" flowtech race-readies, and dual 3" qtp electric cutouts. This setup was on my '99 ss so everything was fabbed for that floorpan and for hooker lts.

I now have it on my '00 Z which has flp headers and they hang lower than the hookers headers do. I think the flp headers are 4.5" from the ground and the cutouts are 3.5" from the ground. The cutouts drag alot and my car sits up higher than stock. But i could prolly find an 1" or 1.5" if i cut off the race-readies and turn them just a little. I might be selling this setup soon. Thinking about with a turbo setup.

I've never heard this from the outside driving. Everyone that has heard says it sounds badass with a bigblock sound. Im not about to let someone take my car for a joyride so i guess i'll have to take their word for it. It will sure as hell get everyones attention, i can say that.

The problem with my single one is that I have a loudmouth catback with a moroso muffler in the I-pipe. So I lost about 2" of ground clearance.

I would go with 2 of them if you have the money and all that. Probably a better set up and its a good idea to do it all at the same time while your in there doing 1 so why not do 2?
