Default 01-02 ls6 Intake Manifold

The search button is working, so I'll start a thread. Okay, so I think I'm right, but correct me if I'm wrong. Some '01's have ls6 int. manifolds, all '02 have them. How can I tell if the '01 has it. And how important is it, performance wise. A little extra horsepower, or is it significant. The reason why I'm asking is because I'm looking at two WS6's right now, an '01 with 4,500 miles for $22.5K. and an '02 with 12K miles for $23.5K. Now I know I can talk them down, so the price for the car isn't the issue, it's going to be the performance. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, all '01s and '02s have the ls6 intake, as mentioned above.
Rumor has it that some '02 blocks may be ls6 blocks, but I wouldn't put much emphasis on that. You'll be fine with either purchase.
Have fun!

yea some do have it, but it only affects oil flow and shouldnt be considered as a power difference.

goodluck.

Yeah, ported oil passages in the block bulkheads.... nice, but nothing worth altering a decision between one or the other.

actually, there are bigger more refined "windows" in the crankcase bulkheads for better breathing between cylinder bays, at high rpm's this would equate to better windage control/balance in the crankcase.......and it does have a performance advantage

Some '01's have it too, mine does (25% of '02s & 10% '01s) but yeah doesn't make a difference powerwise, I've also heard LS1 blocks are better for modding because of the extra material??

Damn, that's pretty impressive. Is that why they have 345hp rating on the '01-'02 Ws6 and SS?

No, the 345hp models had a high flo lid and freer flowing exhaust.
