Default Ditched FAST 90mm For LPE 90mm

Well,I am proud to say that my new LPE TB actually works the way it's supposed to.When I bought my Fast 90,I had the most updated version so I thought I was good to go.I was very wrong,The throttle blade hits the bore as soon as you come off idle. The fast unit has nothing holding the throttle shaft at center, they are relying on the blade to center itself and that's what the throttle sticking is a result of.The LPE unit is a well designed unit and many can say it is too expensive, but buy a FAST90,throw that one in the garbage and then buy one that works and then say LPE is too expensive. Many have been here and done this as me.I have not seen anyone mention the LPE unit so I am doing so in the hope to help others in the right direction. The LPE using a stock style shaft and spring which GM has proved works and does work on the new unit.I also bought mone from LPE because I know THEY WILL back up thier unit if I had any problems.

Thanks for the post BB.I don't have pics but is exactly what they have on the web.$499+ 200 core.$499 is not bad as long as it works as a BOLT ON.

Ehhh. Too much. Especially if you have to send in a core (I assume you send your stock TB). Also on their website they also mention you need to modify the air intake to make it fit. What do you have to do? Keep in mind the Nick Williams 90mm is $419.99 with no core charge.

Yea,I agree about the price but if you had already spent almost $500 on a POS you wouldn't worry so much about the price. You will have to modify any intake tube to fit any 90mm,it is too large for most intake tubes. The Nick Williams looks promising but I wasn't ready to be another test rat.

Hey Nick,I wish your TB was out sooner,I could have saved $500.How is the shaft in your TB being centered? Is the shaft pressed on the bearings or a retaining clip of some sort.On the Fast unit, when I took out the throttle blade screws the shaft fell out of the two end bearings showing there is no retention there.

Nick - quick question - at what level should I upgrade to your throttle body?

Current config is 04 GTO - stock LS1. I assume not until cam & heads are put on.

Is the LPE TB made in-house at Lingenfelter? It kinda looks like the TPIS unit...then again, they all kind of look the same...

tonyb,
The shaft is locked in place with retainers on each side.

rushhour,
Once you have a cam and all the bolt-ons, you could benefit from the intake and tb. Until then your money is better spent on other things.

By looking at the pictures in the link, I would say that those are TPIS tb's.

LPE,TPIS,whatever it is,it works unlike the Fast unit.Looks like Nick has the problems Fast has solved with the reataining rings to center the throttle shaft.Maybe next time I will get yours if I ever need another.

LPE needs need a core, just like TPIS. If you don't have a core, the cost goes above $500.
