Default Garbage Pacesetter LTs...

I didnt listen to my own policy of never installing Pacesetter headers.. After never installing anything but Kooks, FLPs & even Hooker/Jet Hots, we havent run into problems with any of them. However, the Pacesetter quality control is crap. We received a set of LTs that all of the emission fittings are not tapped for threads. The two AIR fittings and one EGR fitting are not threaded. So now we have to put a nut & bolt through to keep the tubes on. Which now includes extra labor since everyone knows how fun it is to put EGR back on the car, now we have to squeeze in behind the EGR to put a nut/bolt on it. To top it off these are 2000 LTs and the EGR is not in the correct place so we are re-bending the tubes.

Never again will TTP touch a set of Pacesetters.

The old phrase "you get what you pay for" comes back to mind here.

I just installed mine and am thrilled with the quality and ease. You get what you pay for doesn't quite fit for me this time. It was an absolute bargain. I will stand by Pacesetters.

I just installed a set on my 01 with air fittings. I agree about tapping the air tube fittings and they did not line up as well as they should have with the air tubes. The driver side was way off and required a longer hose. I wish I would have went with the non-emissions ones, it would have saved some time for the install and made plug/wire access a little better. Still overall I was quite pleased with the quality of the headers and ease of installation. Can't be beat for the $375 I paid for them.

I love the way mine fit and work. They provided the nuts and bolts to hook up the EGR and AIR tubes in place. I dont think that its very difficult to do.

I'm not saying it is difficult. A header install is not difficult. I am saying that whether you pay $.50 or $500000 the parts should be manufactured correctly.

I know from just talking to another vendor they are having a lot of problems with Pacesetter as of now too. After being in LS1 header production for a decent amount of time (Pacesetter) these things should not happen.

Oh and this kit did not include nuts or bolts.

We use and sell the Kooks on all of our personal cars, they make the most HP on the f-bodies hands down no comparison. Can't beat the quality of 304 stainless and professional welds.

I'm surprised, mine came with header bolts, bolts, nuts, & washers for the air fittings, o2 extensions (el cheapo make your own kind) and gaskets (also cheap and did not use).

Paceshitters are notorious for slag in the pipes from their taps or just completely missing them.

i got mine when they first came out and they came with gaskets, nuts, and even o2 extensions. mine were race ones without the egr and air though. they fit great and looked decent. they could use a better welder ya, but for 300 dollars they were nice.

We paid for the o2 extensions from TSP which are good quality. So is their y-pipe. I am pleased with TSP's products but the Pacesetters are garbage. Sorry.

Yes for $300 they are decent price but add the y-pipe and all its over $700 normally. For another $450 you can have the Kooks in stainless steel with a great guarantee.

i love my pacesetters, you can buy 2 sets for what kooks cost and for my car i am plenty happy with the money i saved.

plus the extra 5 minutes it took to put the nut on the bolt is nothing compared to the hours i would have had to work to earn the money for kooks

I agree with Matt, I hate the non tapped holes, I have dropped the stupid little washer and nut so many times trying to put the air fitting back on the header. I will be moving up to Kooks or QTP's in the future.

Why would you buy non coated headers? As is I have seen numerous coated mild steel headers chip off and rust very easily. The ceramics are $700 on special. My recommendation is always 304 stainless, never rust, no worries put them on the car and no worries for life.

I paid less than $500 dollars for my headers, true duals, installation and all the little crap like WD-40, o2 extensions, etc. Granted I found one hell of a deal, and sold my old exhaust. But the point is, for $350 bucks, I found the quality to be as nice as any other header I have ever seen. In no way am I slamming Kooks or the other high-dollar headers. I believe it when it is said that they are the best. But is a few extra horsepower worth $450.00? I am willing to crawl under the car once a month and wipe the headers down. That $450.00 plus dollars that I saved sure makes it worth it to me. Maybe some day I will be able to afford Kooks. At that time, if my Pacesetters are in need of changing, then I will. Until then, my personal opinion is that all things considered, the Pacesetters can't be beat.
