um, if you didnt have a hose going to the factory lid you need to block it off. the 01-02 cars have that hose going to the stock lid, and the 98-00 dont.

00 to 02 do, 98 99 dont

You do need to block that off though, its letting some of the air out that you want crammed into the engine.

its supposed to be connected to your AIR pump, so either connect it or if you dont have the AIR pump anymore romove the house and put a cap on that hole

actually its sucking in a lot of unfiltered air.....for the same reason air is sucked through the air filter

You need to do something with that hose, hook it up or block it off. You're engine probably won't like you if you leave it like that.

Yeah you are letting in alot of unfiltered air, which is bad. I think that 99's dont have the AIR system (right?) so unplug it and block the hole in the lid off with something.

all F-bodies had the air system. its an emissions component. they removed the EGR in 01-02 b/c of the different cam that met emissions a bit easier(didn't require the EGR, started using the LS6 intake).

Correct.

LS1SS4EVER, i've heard alot of complaints about that SLP scoop for warmer areas of the country, such as texas where you live. If it's causing you problems, maybe just take it out? You don't want to divert too much air from your radiator?

You can get a filter from most sponsor for that hose too.. K&N, or even an el cheapo filter from autozone or something to stick in the hose, until you remove the air system entirely.

just put a baby filter on the end of the hose! i have the slp cold air with the add on piece from fasttoys that extends it to the air dam and I am happy with it. it makes it more like a true ram air setup, just have to remember to block it off when it rains
