Talking flowmaster to hooker catback DYNO results

Well i had to get rid of the ol blowmaster cause i just couldnt stand the sound of it anymore, the rasp was about to drive me insane . With the mods in my sig i made 374 rwhp and 366 rwtq through the flowmaster. The flowmaster catback had a cutout in it and with it opened it made 399 rwhp and 390 rwtq. I installed the Hooker catback, very nice fit for the price, Its just as loud if not as loud as the flowmaster but is deeper and barley has a hint of rasp to it. Night and day sound difference over the blowmaster. Well back on the dyno she made 392 rwhp and 378 rwtq I have yet to install a new cutout in the hooker. All of these numbers a untuned. Hopefully this week i can get her tuned. Overall flowmaster to Hooker 18 rwhp gian and 12 rwtq

Awesome man. When I switched to the Hooker catback from the Flowmaster on my pewter car I could tell a seat of the pants difference for sure.

What the flowmaster just a weld up muffler, or repiped. That will make a huge difference. The only flowmasters i like on f bodies are the 10 series one chambered. Great to see the difference.

My car is stock, and I bought it with a flowmaster muffler on it. I put the Hooker cat back on and my butt dyno thought it felt a difference. I'm glad to see some prove it right.

When I bought my car I had a flowmaster muffler on it. It sounds good for stock with cats, but soon as I redid my exhaust I lost it for a Hooker. Welcome to the club.

Flowmasters are junk no matter what they're on. They're only good for one thing and that's making noise.

That sounds about right. A cutout on my Corsa @ CME setup is worth 4rwhp @ 5rwtq.

I like the sound of a flowmaster, and their other mufflers flow good, but not the F-body ones.

Maybe it is also time for me to change mine over.

I have pacestters lt headers with TSP y-pipe with hi-flow cats and I just went with a 40 series flowmaster muffler. So the pipe from the y-pipe to the muffler is still stock. Since it is a single in and single out I had them add a pipe in front of the muffler before it enter's the muffler and had them cut out a 1 1/4 inch hole with a tail pipe added. Same as borla does with there's.

Do you think I should rip it all of and go with a complete cat back and if so which one.

Also I have all the bolt on's with a 224/224 cam 3,200 stall with 342 gears.

I would look into a new cat back for sure, stock piping hurts you in the long run. Look into a hooker cat back or go true duals.

Does true duals add the most performace? Also which one's did you go with? I have the same headers as you. I also have the TSP y-pipe with hi-flo cats.

Well done X-pipe TD's offer gains (across the curve) over many Y-pipe/Catback setups. There are exceptions however. I actually gained performance by ditching my 3" duals in favor of a QTP ORY and SLP 2OTL combo. The QTP Y-pipe has an incredible 4" Flowmaster Scavenger Collector which flows very well.
