QTP Headers are installed! Have some questions...
1. Just to be 100% certain, you use the front O2 sensors with the extensions that hook to the headers, right?
2. For the rear O2 sensors, do you just unplug them at the harness, or do you zip tie them up somewhere? Will not running these set off a code? I'm getting HPTuners as soon as 2.0 is released, so I can fix this. I HAVE to know that there is nothing wrong with driving the car with the SES light on after installing headers. Can someone please discuss this? What codes will be set? Will driving the car with these codes cause any problems?
3. For the AIR system: Since I got the race version and am not running cats (and since I can't !AIR until after I get HPTuners), how do I block off the AIR system? Should I remove it, or can I just make a block off plate for the tubes that is like the gasket without the hole in the center for the air to pass through? I'm talking about the part of the system that hooked to the stock manifold.
4. Will it hurt anything or set off any extra codes if I started the engine up running open headers. I just want to hear what it sounds like and would only let it run for like 15 seconds. Is this ok without any kind of extension on the header collector?
If you guys could help me out, I would really appreciate it. The install went REALLY smooth by the way. But my drive on, 4 post lift helped a lot
I've got pictures to compare ground clearance that I will post ASAP. I still have to take the "after" pictures though, since the duals aren't on. Thanks!
1. Use the front O2 extensions and plug those into the header collectors. You will plug the extensions you have into the original wiring harness, then plug the sensor inot the other end of the extension.
2. For my rear O2's I left them plugged in and ziptied them up somewhere. I didn't want to risk some water getting into the wiring harness and shorting out the electrical system. But I wonder if having them still plugged in and reading information is worse than just unplugging them and the computer thinking they're missing? When I have Speed Inc. tune it I'm just going to see what they recommend to do with them.
3. I'm not sure the best approach.
4. It won't hurt anything to start it up that way, as long as all the sensors you're going to plug in are, then you won't set off anymore codes by running open headers. After starting mine up I wanted to drive around for a bit like that, but I was using someone elses lift and so didn't have that much time.
2. Just get some O2 sims and you won't have to worry about setting off the SES light. I don't think it would hurt anything either way but I'm not positive on that.
3. Just take all the AIR stuff out; hoses, pump, everything. It's pretty simple to do.
4. You shouldn't hurt anything just by starting it up, I drove mine to the exhaust shop with open headers when I put mine on.
2 remove the back one, i put electrical tape over the end jsut for perosnal peace of mind.
3. jsut remove it, it will set off a code eventually, but nothing hptuners can't fix
4 i ran mine for over 40 miles on open headers, till i got my y on
