Default How far back can i move the Y pipe?

I have a set of hooker lt's on my car with their ORY.
I was thinking of ordering 2 cutouts from QTP (or if another sponser has em a lil cheaper, that'd be better =)) and putting them right after the collectors, then hooking the Y back up...
Question is (and it's late, so i can't jack the car up), is there room under a t\a to move the Y back? And how long are the "pipes" that the cutout uses.
I'm going to order the 3" pipes...unless i can find out how big the collectors are on the hookers, and get as close as possible.

Thanks guys

If your cars lowered I wouldnt do it.Also if you move it back you'll going to probably run into a lot of banging under the car,due to the bends in the Y.You're going to run into o2 issues as well. The exhaust will exit to close to the o2's wich will mess up thier readings.Making your car eventually run like crap.

I'm running Hooker headers,Hooker Y and Hooker catback.I thought the same thing, ended up putting a cutout after the Y.I put it where the back passenger floor goes up alittle cause my cars lowered and I didnt want any clearance issues.

The o2's I was talking about were the one's in the headers. You need to run extension pipe off the headers to get the exiting exhaust father from the o2's.If not it'll let fresh air in and skew the readings.

If you really want to run duel cut outs, you could go to true duels with an X-pipe.I think its Qtp,they sell a Y-pipe with dual cutouts built into it.

I've been wondering about this also... im going to be getting a custom Y-pipe made by a local Exhaust Shop... now i am getting a Catted Y-pipe so is it possible to get dual cutoff's on the Pipe itself??? I know the Cats make it difficult on space, but could they fit without destroying anything? Or would i have to only get one cutout placed after the Y? Is it just as loud this way?

With a catted Y I dont think there would be room. It's just me.but I think putting a cutout after cats is a waste!

With cats its not going to be as loud as without them.If you running a quiet catback you can put it after for the sound and a minimal hp pickup.I dont know what catback your running, but there is a lot of free flowing ehaust out there.I picked up 2 hp opening my cutout. So to me its a $200 noise maker. But I still run with it open most of the time!

Most dynoes I've seen with the Hooker catback, only a few horses a picked with a cutout.

Im running a Flowmaster, but soon going to be putting QTP LTs, Cat y-pipe and switching to a magnaflow muffler if anything... so should i just get an offroad y-pipe? and put cutoffs on it?

I'm not sure how well the magnaflow flows.I would run the off road Y with a cutout. But thats what I have.I cant see doing dual cutouts unless you going for max HP,like for a mostly track car or big cubic motor.

Like alot of other people on here I've changed my exhaust numerous times. The only thing I've never done is true duels.I finally ended up with something I'll "probably" never change.

To me you have to do what you're going to be pleased with!Just like I said though alot of people on here have wasted alot of time/money on here to get what they wanted,as far as sound/performance.Not that its really a waste if you enjoy tinkering. But all the money I've spent on getting to what I finally like,I could of bought many other things.

Its best if you know anyone to listen to there cars and see what you think. You can go to ls1sounds and listen to exhaust clips as well. Its not the same as standing next to the car,but you'll get kind of an idea.

The Magnaflow flows a bit better than the Hooker. You're only going to gain a few horsepower with a cutout.
