True Dual Owners In Here - Ground Clearance
1. Which headers do you have?
2. Which dual setup do you have (piping size, mufflers, crossover pipe, dumps or over-the-axle, etc)?
3. Which springs and shocks do you have?
4. What is the lowest point on your system and how much clearance do you have?
5. Extra comments:
================================================== ========
I'll go first...
1. Pacesetter race style long tubes
2. Texas Speed & Performance 3" TDs, Moroso Spiral Flows, dumped
3. Eibach Pro Kit w/ Bilstein shocks (25 3/4" front height, 26 3/4" rear)
4. The driver's side pipe just off the headers, the x-pipe, and the very beginning of the muffler's body are all 2" off the ground on the driver's side.
5. The springs + TDs are too low to be practical. 2" of clearance is ridiculous. These springs lowered my car quite a bit more than advertised so it has to come back up. 3" of clearance is where I draw the line. IMO, 3" TDs that aren't custom and tucked into the tunnel aren't for really low cars IMO.
2. Custom 3" TD's with an H and bullets ended before the rear axle w/o turn downs.
3. Stock
4. The lowest point on the system is right after the drivers side header. I don't have a measurement but I've only scrapped one speed bump and it barely touched the pipe.
See the pipes under the car, plenty of room.

TD system picture. Ignore the wrapping around the mufflers, that was an attempt to reduce drone from vibration. It helped a little but wasn't worth the money for the header wrapping. Also I removed the turn downs and that almost eliminated the drone. Much better tone and sound and way easier to have a conversation now.

2. Custom Duals with X-pipe and Flowmaster single chamber mufflers over the axles with Chrome Tips.
3. Mac lowering springs
4. Clearance almost as same as when I had a catback system.
5. My exhaust man pounded up inder the rear passenger seats and tucked the mufflers up in there. Only problem I have is that they're 3" pipes and because the car is lowered, the axles will sometimes hit the exhaust which goes over them. Looks good though.
Sorry I don't know how to do the pic thing. I got a lot of pictures.
2: Lanes duals 2.5x w/ flo-pro twisters dumped
3: Not sure which springs, but its a 1.25 drop, stock shocks (also going soon)
4: lowest point is after the drivers side header and its about 3.75-4 inches off the ground
5: it scrapes on large speedbumps if im not careful, but then again i have SLP's on a lowered car so im a sinner
but aside from that i have no problems with it. not to mention it sounds BAD ***!!!!! IMO not too loud but def. loud enough (had LM w/ ORY before so that was loud!) if i can find a pic ill put it in Last edited by CATCH ME; Jun 16, 2005 at 10:12 AM.
TSP Duals with Dynomax Bullets

On a car like mine (mainly used as daily driver/weekend warrior), that's not lowered, The clearance is great.

2) 3" Flowmaster scavenger crossover and dual exhaust kit, Flowmaster 1-chambers dumped
3) stock springs & shocks
4) 4.5" of clearance except on the driver side, just before the muffler, i had to watch out for my fuel lines, so that is my lowest point at about 4"
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
2. LS1 Speed custom 3" duals with dynomax bullets, dumped.
3. Stock suspension
4. The two lowest points are the very beginning of the bullet mufflers and the driver's side pipe where the floorboard is low, where the stock Y-pipe is crushed. Each location is a little under 4". For visual aid, it is only about a thumb's width away from fitting an upright 12 oz aluminum can beneath it.
5. Extra comments: badass sound.
Lane's TD's 3" dumped at axle
stock ride height
The lowest point is right after the driver's side header. I'm happy with my setup. If I scrape anywhere, it's always the front air dam, not the exhaust. Here are my pics.

2. Custom 2.5" Over Axle w/Magnaflow Tru-X crossover & 4" Round body Magnaflows
3. Stock Springs w/ Half a coil cut off and Bilstein HD's
4. The lowest point is where the pipe shoots up to go over the axle.
5. A BMR UPR bar was used for clearance. Mufflers where mounted behind the axle before the tips.
