Default Does anyone have the BBK SSI Intake?!

Okay, I think the old huge thread is dead... so whynot start a new thread? So does anyone at all have this elusive intake? If so, what are you feelings... and most important do you have any dyno numbers and or track results... even SOTP will do. . I think a lot of us would like to know if it does anything... or if the heat factor of aluminum kills it.

I'm so curious I wouldn't mind doing the testing if enough of us could pool our $$ to buy one. Then eBay it when it's all done. But I don't think anyone would go for that...

So again, does anyone have it?

Probably because it's aluminum and like the Holley intake, people didn't want heat soak issues. I'm still curious as to what kind of improvements people have made with it. I guess when they all go on a clearance sale we might find out.

Yeah looks like it... I remember a few people on the board said stuff like "oh I ordered mine on Summit and it should be here next week and blah blah" I'm wondering if they got it... dynoed it, then found it didn't do anything so they we're too embarrassed to say anything on here.

Yeah I'm just really curious as to what if anything it does... I'm still hoping someone will chime it, but I'm thinking unless I go out and do it myseld I'll never know.

There have GOT to be some guys running them. For some, the added strength of aluminum and ability to withstand high pressures must outweight the "heat sink" penalty. Plus, if you're a true "1/4 Mile Warrior", then your engine may not be running long enough to heat it up all the way - esp if you leave ice on it until you get to the line.

FWIW, I certainly ain't gonna get it any time soon!

I just got home from a long buisness trip, and found one waiting at my door. I haven't had time to do anything with it except pull it out of the box and look over it. It looks pretty good but I think I will have to do my own hand finishing on it, and it has an EGR provision cut in it. I called BBK today and asked them what the hell was up because in all the pictures on the website it doesn't have an EGR provision. I explained to the guy that the 01-02 don't have an EGR stock, and he said he would find out what the deal was and call me back. I won't have time to install this thing anytime soon because my motor is down for a while and I will probably bolt it on when I do my H/C swap.

same as LS6.....

and as a bonus you get an extra 30lbs added to the nose of your car.
you get to pay, way more than the composite LS6.
and you get this great heat soak issue!

or you can make the same power with the 1lb, cheaper, LS6!

How about a nitrous backfire? not so fine. Heat soak only comes into play when you shut the car down and let it sit. just my opinion.
