Do a lot of fumes come in the passenger window? Is it ungodly loud with the pass window open?

those wouldn't pass most emissions standards. In VA, the exhaust has to exit behind the passenger compartment in order for it to even be considered legal

In NH, no one wanted to inspect my car until I went to one shop where the mechanic said he had just spoken the state inspector and said this...
"Does it have a muffler?"
I responded, "Yes but it's just a bullet."
He said, "Well as long as there's a muffler... I can't control whether people drive around quietly or like maniacs making all kinds of noise.."
I passed with dynomouth type setup.
