Default Photos - MAC Install - Expected better fit

Hi

Just woundering if anyone else is using a set of MAC headers and catalytic Y pipe. I did not expect to loose so much clearance on the drivers side. Also, I had to shim down the tunnel brace to fit at the rear. Anyone else using the cat Y pipe experienced this type of fit?

Thanks JA

Hi
I am happy with the performance. The system really woke up my car. I have no dyno results, but it feels like I got lots of HP and torque. So I assume they do not flow too badly. I was planning on lowering my car, but with this exhaust, I assume the cat will get beat up pretty quickly.

Thanks JA

I keep telling people over and over that it doesnt matter what kind of header you get. Nearly all of the longtubes I have put on tuck so tight to the car on the driver side that it is nearly touching the floor of the car. How can you get better clearance than that? Sure if you are only running a 2.5' pipe coming off of a set of mids or shorties you will gain 1/2" but thats it.

Example. Take a set of pacesetter, hooker, jet hot, or flowtechs, and try and run a 3" pipe straight off the header and its gonna be sandwiched against the floor. Thats why people have a fit with their y pipes.

Hi Full Force
I agree with you opinion. It took me a while to get under there and have a full look at the clearance. There realy is not much room. Also there is a cross brace a little behind the cat that makes it impossible to move thing around. However, I think on my system I can get that cat up about 1/4" with a bit of custom fitting. It may mean modifying the front pipe a little, but I think I will go for it. Every little bit of clearance will help.

Thanks JA

Not sure why people say they suck. Mine when it very easily. NO clearance issues. The y-pipe fit in nicely. The only issue(if you want to even call it that) was the passenger side collector was pretty damn close to the heatshield we have there...a little :cough: modifying :cough: to the heat shield and bam, it fit just fine.

The MAC ypipe tucks in better than the stock ypipe did

Hi

Was you system catalytic or ORY? The ORY is actually a different part and fit.

Thanks JA
