Default Suncoast hood w/Lid?

I need to know if anyone with a Suncoast Creations hood uses a lid. The hood is functional and it has the open style filter on it. I was just wondering if first a lid is better, second will it fit?

No reason a lid shouldn't fit as it's got more room than stock. Not sure on which is better though as I use the functional kit. I wish I could see some back-to-back results though as I often wonder if I'd benefit by switching back to a lid setup.

My car came with a suncoast hood and a whisper lid. It fits, but I don't like the lid setup, doesn't seem like the filter seals well. That has nothing to do with the hood though, it does fit. Edit: Come to think of it, it does touch! lol. Now that I think of it, I can see the line on the lid where the hood closes on it, but it's fine as long as I don't mind the mark on my lid.

If I were putting any money into my car, one of the first things I'd do is the suncoast intake, like on noyzee's Z. Made for the LS1, but uses a ZR1 filter I hear. But anyway it reverses the filter, and it's a box with filter open on top. If you look under the suncoast hood there is a square opening. The square opening comes down and takes in part of the intake box that is open on top. I haven't seen it in person but saw pics and asked him about it. He said it works great and is nice and tight but uses the ZR1 filter...sweet setup. That's what I would/may do someday.

Same here I have the WS-6 Style hood (stands out more that the factory hood) from sun coast creations with a lid and it fits just fine, after I changed my lower air box. If you use it on a non-ram air box it will fit fine. I had to change my lower air box to a regular ls1 because it is a couple inches shorter. The lower air box on a WS6 is a little taller than the regular LS1. Causing the back, top part of the lid to hit the hood.

I'd like to know if the larger lid and air box from Fast Toys Performance will fit under the Suncoast SS hood. It uses the same ZR1 filter that the Suncoast box has. Take a look here. http://fasttoys.net/shop/product_inf...products_id=32

This is the current setup I have now. There is a gap though between the hood and filter. Is this the same as Noyzee's setup? Anybody know the best way to seal it off?

I have the Suncoast WS6 and matching airbox. Mine came with foam that I glued to the underneath of the hood around the opening. Seals up real nice to the top of the airbox. Want to say it is maybe 1 1/2 inch foam, so you can probably homemake a seal.

So ya think this is the best setup. That's what I'm thinking. I just remember some dude was saying the lid would add like 10rwhp over this setup. I was very skeptical to say the least. He said his friend got rid of the setup like mine for the ws6 lower air box and a lid.

The real important thing is that underside of your filter seals well for filtration purposes. The seal between the hood and filter should be no big deal except letting in a little hot air from the engine compartment. That does look kind of like noyzee's, except his filter doesn't look terrible like that!!! lol replace that thing. But anyway, yeah that's similar to the setup I'm talking about. The idea to seal it with some foam sounds like a good one too. I never did see noyzees up close in person to check it out, only pics. But he did say his sealed great. But again, that's on a z28, so not sure how applicable.

Ya know what's wierd. I just cleaned the filter not too long ago. I think it just may be the way that filter is colored. I'll prolly get a new K&N sometime here in the near future.

Mine seals fine. I received some very thick foam along with the rest of the kit.

I have the Suncoast SS Hood and originally had the Suncoast Induction system. When I had the cam and heads put on the told me that because the way the throttle body lined up with the induction system it was cutting off one third of the area leading in. I put my old Whisper lid back on and gained 5 hp on the Dyno.

Good Luck,

Al

P.S. The Whisper lid fits fine.
