Default exhaust pop/backfire ??

When my engine is cold or not up to full temp yet, and I let off the gas or shift gears, I hear this poping noise or backfire. I did some searching, and some people say it's normal but others say it's not. I just changed my plugs and wires, and I still don't get as good of gas mileage.
Could it be my o2 sensors? Or something called the check valves, what exactly are the check valves and how do you replace them?

I have found that the backfiring is normal on a cold engine. I think all Camaros do that when the engine is cold. I assure you that it will not hurt a thing. In fact, I would worry if it did not backfire then the engine is cold.

My car does this when cold - In fact I let out the clutch fast sometimes just to hear it pop, lol. 40k miles later, still does it, and no problems It's normal!

mine does it when it is warm to, when the cutout is open and I drop the tranny to 2nd from 50mph (A4) I get a few pops. I wouldn't worry about it.

i hear it all the time, especially with the cutout. I can actually make it do it at a certain rpm if i let off then feather the throttle. I always thought it was pretty cool.

Drove me crazy for years cool at first then it gets embarrasing cause it makes the car sound like a hunk of ****, like somethings wrong with it. removed the air system due to the faulty check valves now I can't make it do it if I tried.

Same here, i have the loudmouth exhaust and auto trans. When i leave it in second and decelerate from about 45mph, if i feather the gas i can make it pop all the way down. I also think it sounds kind of cool.
