Default exhaust gaskets.

Looks like i cant get any gaskets for my headers from the dealer til tuesday. I was hoping to put the headers on today and/or tomorrow, but i can get some fel-pro exhaust manifold gaskets from a store. Are they the same?

IF they are the metal ones go for it but if their not I wouldnt. People sometimes reuse the old ones that are on there.

They look metal in the picture, they are way cheaper than the GM ones though, but that could just be because the dealer charges are ridiculous.

I could find the fel-pro ones at a local store which appear to be the same as the stock ones. They are around $20/set while the stock ones are $17 each.

I have the paper ones that came with the headers that some people have used and had no problems but most people say dont use them.

Don't use the paper POS's. Go ahead and get the Fel-Pro's if they are MLS. If not, just wait till the dealership opens. It's not worth having leaks.

its cool to reuse the stock ones, just make sure that they ok. If they do then there is nothing wrong with reusing them.

I know mileage plays a part in gasket life. Mine have around 75k miles on them if they were never replaced, which they probably werent. I should just check them to see if they are alright, right?

I did my header install @ 130K miles. Used stock replacement gaskets, they seem to be a quality piece. Have no experience with other brands. After install, I re-tightend the bolts after about 280 miles, no leaks, FWIW.

I don't care for Fel-Pros, I had a set leak on my Lt1 corvette.
I'd wait for tuesday or check around if any speed shops in your area have them in stock.

Stock GM replacements are the only way to go IMO.

did mine today and used fel-pro. works great because it has the slots to put the front and back bolts in and them drop the gasket in. and they are metal. payed like 12-13 bucks for them over 12-15 bucks a side from gm
