Default Vara-Ram velocity stack, worth the money?

I have a 99TransAm with with the ls1 and I am considering a var-ram velocity stack for the throttle body. I am curious to weather or not they are worth the money and do they really make the numbers they say. Has anyone bought or tried one of these on their car and has any feedback? Thanks

For just a few more bucks (about 25) you can get your stock throttle body ported and polished. Those things suck. They do nothing but restrict air. Look at it this way dude. Any mod that you do to decrease volumetric effeciency such as adding material inside the throttle body or intake, slapping a tornado in, or one of those stupid electric supercharger thingies are just going to hurt performance. I know a dude that had one of those things and thought it was doing something until he took it off because his track times were so slow. A good intake setup that will net you power is a ported stock throttle body, aftermarket lid, and the fast toys ram air setup. Later on, you would see gains from an LS6 intake manifold also. Those velocity stacks have been posted about before, do some some searching dude. They are junk. You want your intake system with as little restrictions as possible, sized to support your application but not overdone, sealed, and able to receive ambient air.

It's a cylinder shaped piece of plastic designed to slide into the throttle body, supposedly decreasing TB restrictions and turbulence, increase flow and add horsepower. I don't know how it can because it blocks those two holes to the sensors in the throttle body. I know from a buddy that they suck. Plus they're 50 bucks. Please don't waste your money.
