true dual vs. Y
And besides the difference is only going to be a few BHP so does it really matter.
If you can, go with a catback for now. When you cam it, see how it does. Then, put on some duals and check it. You can always sell the catback and recover some of your money. Plus, duals sound a HELLUVA lot better'n a catback.
Here's my $.02:
Previous exhaust: Kooks LTs, catted-y, Hooker Cat-back.
Dyno: 331/347
Current exhaust: Kooks LTs, custom ORX (read - no cats), 3" duals into the x-pipe, 2.5" over the axle, through Magnaflow bullets, into CME tips in the rear.
Dyno: 340/356
No cam here. How much of that was getting rid of the high flow cats? How much was the duals? Who the hell knows...
I did my duals right the first time (IMO)...I didn't do them dumped, so I have no complaints about interior noise at all.
Just do whatever floats your boat, and whatever is within your budget.

I'm in the process of going back to a Y/catback setup as well. The days of the duals were fun, and loud ... but I'm getting tired of setting off car alarms every other time i start my car, and not being able to talk on my phone in the car.Duals will show alil more power than a Y setup, but the duals really help pick up power throughout the powerband .... so your peak #'s wont be much higher w/ duals over a Y.
