Default Belt walking off...

I just installed my ASP pulley and belts when I changed my cam. When I went to recharge the AC I noticed that the belt had walked a lil off. Just up the edge of the alt and ps pulleys. My ASP pulley was impacted on with my MAC impact gun so I doubt its that. I think my tensioner is a little on the soft side. If I push hard it moves but my friend says his does also. I held her at WOT a couple of times after the install but that shouldnt be a prob. Any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks

Is the belt walking off the front or back on the ps & alt. pullies? If front, then the ASP is not seated all the way back. Are you running a double-chain timing set? Could be the pulley is not seating in the correct place because of the oil pump shimming necessary for running a double-chain.

Retorque the pulley to proper spec w a torque wrench and 2' hollow *** whooping pipe. An impact should not be used. You also want to look and mark where the factory pulley seated as to get the ASP in the right place so the drive accessories line up perfectly. HTH

Another thing that would help is a Katech belt tensioner. We have seen this problem before, and the manual tensioner helps alot. I have them in stock. Let me kow if I can help!!

I just pick up some gatorbacks

We don't have autozone here, but Parts+Plus has them.

I had a gatorback walk. Belt walk is more likely to happen with and underdrive pulley. Not saying that it won't solve your problem but it's not 100% either. I'm getting the manual belt tensioner as soon as I can.
