Default true dual setup

ok, im tryin to do a true dual set up. is the only way i can do a true dual setup is with bullet mufflers? or can i use some 30 or 40 series flowmaster mufflers, or a similar type muffler. the exhaust guy said i couldnt do it with the flowmasters because i would have no ground clearance. and i know a bunch of people on here have true dual setups. and i dont want to dump it because it rattles way too much. so im just looking for some advice. any advice is appreciated. thanks a bunch.

Yea man have you seen any pics of TD with bigg mufflers, you would have no clearance at all, on the other hand I dont know how you feel about rattling, i love that feeling!! You could try some Delta Mufflers from Flowmater, those things are realitivly small IMO. Good LUCK

Do a search. There was a guy who had a thread on this a week or two ago. Some guys are running Flowmasters in the normal setyup others use a bfh to beat in the undercarriage to make a little bit more room.

Thats exactly how I got mine. No probs at all except for a little hitting on the rear end when I go over bumps hard. The Flowmaster mufflers go up right under the rear pasenger seats. They pounded them up a lil. Whole custom set up with chrome tips and all for 500.00.

Sweet Thunder or Flo Pro Twisters are good choices and tuck pretty well.

seeing as you do not want to dump it, the bassani tru-dual goes all the way out the rear with no ground clearance issues. click the links in my sig to see pics.

But doesn't your setup have only one muffler?

yes. dual in/out muffler. in stock location. that's why it has such great ground clearance.

So if I wanted to switch to a setup with Sweet Thunder mufflers, could I just put them in the location of the muffler on the Bassasini? I'm new to F-Bods' TD exhaust.

Sweet. Does your car sound raspy? I know with the Y setups, without cats the cars sound really raspy

When people say "I-Pipe", I'm assuming it just means a narrow and long muffler? An "I-Pipe" is not the same as a x/h pipe?

the I-pipe is the pipe that runs from the y-pipe to the muffler. I = intermediate pipe.

Ok, so on your setup, with the muffler removed and moded for LT headers, I could put two powersticks after the X pipe, or would it be better for the Powersticks where the muffler was at?

The only way to get decent ground clearance with 'box' style mufflers is to do this:

Flo-Pro Twister bullet style mufflers are the best overall IMHO. Great sound, less or no drone, and max clearance.

This is probably a dumb question, but if you have tuned Long Tubes (I have SLPs), why do you still need the X or the H pipe? Is it just to balance back pressure, and if the tuned LTs are scavenging the exhaust, is balancing important anymore? My Loudmouth I pipe splits just over the axle to dual slash tips. I was thinking of having another I pipe bent to lead from where the I collector is now, and slapping a pair of the LM II modular resonators in line. The current original LM has just a resonator, but I don't think it's the same as the new modular one for the LM II's, so I'd buy a pair of the new ones, so they're the same on both sides... See the pic attached.

BTW - my clearance is aleady screwed by the SLP LT collectors

X and H pipes are to even the tone out. On my stang, someone didn't put a crossover pipe and it sounded like ****. One side would fire and the other would't.
