Default Do exhaust tips have an effect on exhaust sound/tone?

I'm wondering if they have any sort of effect on the way an exhaust sounds. I currently have the dual dual tips and I'm thinking of getting a pair of 3-4 inch rolled tips. Will this change much if anything?

Yep. I've switched tips several times with all my cars and it's always made a noticeable difference. BIgger tips will give you a louder/deeper sound. Round and oval tips will also sound different.

I switched from a larger tip to a basic 3 inch tip. I like a more mellow sound. I had too much reverberation with my larger tips. If you go from one extreme to the other you will definitely hear a big difference in your exhaust note. Take your tips off and just listen through the tails. You should notice a big difference if you have larger tips.

Yes, a tip change can certainly make a difference in exhaust tone.

Ell Ess Won, you say it like it doesn't shange the sound at all. In your experiance you thought it didnt. Its proven that the tips DO change the sound.

When you've got Long Tubes, and Offroad Y and a Cutout that's alway open, the tips don't change jack ****.

When a friend put his corsa on the car we listened to it with and without tips and it was a noticable difference. It sounds a little more raspy/high pitched without em.

Straight pipes to a big 4" oval tip, deeper and more mellow.
