Default Pacesetter Y-pipe install

OK I have pacesetter LTs on my car now. I can fit the Y-pipe on the headers, and piece them together with the provided clamps.

However, My hooker cat-back is a little to far bakc for the Y pipe to reach and I little too big for it to fit snug.
Went to every autoparts store around and they do not make a piece to merge them together as big as I need
I am at a loss, what should I do to make this work?

My Y pipe to hooker catback connection had the same problem. I had a shop weld in a short piece of pipe and then flange the connection so it can be easily removed if need be. I don't know if they all have that problem, but there was no way that Y pipe was going to mate up to the catback.

well i figure if it is only a few inches it shouldnt be more than what they charge to weld cutouts in, $20-50, or something like that. It isnt a full hour of labor, so whatever they charge per hour just cut it in half and you'll see what you SHOULD be paying, although it is probably 10 minutes worth of work at most.

I only had about a half inch gap on mine, but no muffler shop would work on my car because it doesnt have cats. I ended up using a 2 3/4" band clamp and it seals fine.

does this sound right...

My pacesetter ORY has an outside diameter of 2 3/4" where it supposed to connect to the catback.
And my Hooker catback has a 2 7/8" inner diameter where it's supposed to connect to a Y pipe.
Where do I get a piece like this, maybe a ricer speed shop??

01formula6 what whas the method you used to make it work with band calmps??
any downsides??

Tell Autozone to get you the 3" to 3" connectors (I've bought them there) and whack off the Y pipe where the 3" OD starts and whack off the I pipe where the 3" OD starts and then just put a piece of 3" aluminized exhaust pipe in there.

i think he checked autozone and no luck. Sometimes if you go to a shop and have a little conversation with the people who are doing the work and not the manager at the desk you might be able to get them to do something for you. They pocket the money, you go home happy, problem solved. And they can expand pipe to fit in other pipes snug so that 2 3/4 can be expanded to fit tightly with the y-pipe.

Doesnt it suck, the pacesetter y is a 3 inch y-pipe with an outlet so small at the end. just another thing i hate about my pacesetter y, i could have saved $125 on that piece of trash.
