Anyone run a Borla XR1 with 4" Exhaust?
I will be getting a 4" mufflex soon and I was planning on switching out the muffler with either a magnaflow oval race muffler or a borla XR1 race muffler, anybody run the XR1 muffler with a 4" exhaust? I know people run the magnaflow but I was thinking maybe a XR1.

is your mufflex a singly in/out? I have the 4'' mufflex with dual outs, and was thinking about putting a cutout and a xr-1 in the I-pipe to keep it quiet, I asked and no one gave me a solid answer either.
on another note, why are you switching it out?

well I bought a single in/single out mufflex used and I bought the exhaust without a muffler because it came with a flowmaster and I refuse to run the flowmaster because I've never been a flowmaster fan, I would run the spintech muffler, but I've heard the spintech's are pretty loud and kind of restrictive. I am currently running LT's, Mufflex ORY, GMMG and is too loud for my neighborhood so I gotta go quieter. I was asking about the XR1 because I was hoping the XR1 or the magnaflow would be a little quieter. I had a 3.5" mufflex with a dynomax ultra flo round muffler and it was quieter then my current setup, but I didn't like the sound of the dynomax muffler.

I've talked to a guy with an LT1 who has LT, ORY and 4" mufflex with an oval XR1 muffler and he said it was ubrareable and he had to run cats to quiet it down, but he also has a built motor with a blower on it. I need something quieter then what I have though.

How about 2 XR1s? Would take a little fabbing but I think
it would be bitchin'. For 4" I don't think they make a round
one, but they have the ovals. For that matter, necking down
to two 3" XR1s ain't gonna hurt a bit, HP wise.
I'm seriously thinking about pulling my single XR1 out
of the I pipe on my LM and running two in the stock muff
location, unless santy clause brings me a welder, in which
case, hmmm, we'll see.
Can you tell I love the XR1s? LOL. Mines been on for well
over 80,000 miles now.

My friend has a 4" kit with a xr-1, and its freakin loud!!! The only thing louder is no muffler. It sounds pretty good, but at certain rpm's, its a little raspy. i would just keep the Spintech, but thats just me

With a bone stock motor that 4" Mufflex single out was pretty tame sounding.... Not sure how much louder it would have picked up with a 400+ hp motor in it...
ps: pipes cut.. looking for a box that fits...

I fabbed a 4" mufflex single out exhaust. Thought about the XR-1 and after hearing it, I decided to go a different route. Ended up buying the dynatec split flow oval 4''. Really like the sound, its crisp and helps with rasp. Still loud, its a straight through muffler, but great for the price.

Your running a 4" setup with a magnaflow right? How does it sound? Was it louder then the muffler you had on before?

that isnt my car. my car wont be running for about 2 weeks. i just heard the 4" magnaflow flow probably the best and thats what i need especially for a turbo setup.
