how in the hell??

do you get the bolt of the crankshaft pulley? I have the tranny out cause I am also installing a TC and figured it would be an ideal time to change pulleys. please tell me how to lock the flex plate and get that bastard off!!

you might be able to put two of the bolts in the flexplate and slide a long pry bar in there and jam it on the bottem of the car somewhere to keep it from turning. If you have an impact gun you might get it to break loose with that.

1/2" breaker bar and a lot of muscle. Just did this and shattered a craftsman 3" extension. It ain't fun.

what i did is get some vise grips and lock it down tight on the flex plate but where the handle is against something tought like the floor pan.. and now the motor wont turn as your pryin on that bolt..it would be easier to use a impact..i just dono if you can fit it between the motor and the fans

you can take a peice of chain, run it thru the pulley and anchor it to the block with a couple of bolts. Also helps if you get a 2 foot breaker bar.

what I did was take the handle from my floor jack (both pieces) and slide that in from the top. Then I just put a little muscle into it and I broke it free. I love that concept called leverage! Now if I could only find a bolt long enough to get my new pulley started!

I would do it the right way and get a flywheel locking tool. Kind of pricey for how often it gets used, but it sure makes things easy.

Using an impact is okay if you are taking the bolt out, but do not use one to put it back on. Otherwise, get a long piece of pipe for leverage. I used a 3' pipe on a breaker bar - took less than a minute for it to break loose!
