No proof that it works. It does get your air filter dirtier and it does draw in hotter air off the radiator when you are in town. I raised my air box and sealed it on the sides and back in order to try and get more air from the nose area of the car where the air is cooler than coming off the front of the radiator. Most people will always tell you that a mod works because in their head they want it to work. Do a search, you will not find any hard evidence that it works. Now if you do the Austin Super Sucker, I believe that works because you draw the air from the cool area underneath the car and you do pick up some ram effect. Most of the power increase is from bringing in colder air, not from the ram air effect. At 100 mph, the ram air would increase the air density by a little over 1% which would give you another 4 hp if you are making 400 hp. If you can lower the intake air temp from 80 down to 70, you'll pick up almost 2% in air density, so you can see the air temp is very important.

it's not really something you can test on a dyno. You have to be moving in order for the slight Ram Air effect to take place and if you're moving on a dyno, well let's just say you have other things to worry about.
I think people at the track with a FTRA report a tenth decrease in ET and 1, sometimes two mile an hour increase in trap.

Anything that would allow your motor to breath better is definally a good thing, it may not give you much gain but I would do it. You won't be able to pull the front wheels off the ground wonce you cut you box!!!!
