Question for true dual owners.
Drill the holes and put the bolts through from INSIDE the car. This way, you can use an impact to remove/reinstall the nuts without having to hold backup (most of the time lol). Might want to have them put a small tack from the body to the bolt so it wont spin if you need to remove the nuts.
I had to unbolt my duals from the hangers when i pulled my tranny the last time because the motor would not tilt far enough to get the top bolts out.
I unbolted my duals 2 days ago and re-hung them for a little more clearance. I placed a pipe between the dumps, and jacked up the pipe as high as i could. Re-drilled, and re-hung. There is some pics at the bottom of this page.

Another thing - if the exhaust guy lays a big enough weld on your floorboard to hold the mufflers to where they wont break loose, you're going to want to pull your carpet back anyway so you dont have to call the fire dept.

Whoa crap! I didn't even think of that! I'm sold on bolting them up just because of that!
Thanks for that. The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I like the slitting the carpet idea, i would have probably done that had it not been so easy to pull the carpet back a little.
