sweet thunder in loudmouth

sweet thunder in loudmouth I have the 18" S.S. sweet thunder in place of the stock resonator and don't care for the sound. It makes this sort of rushing air sound more than it does an exhaust note. It sounds really mean and aggresive until around 4k rpm's then kind of a whoosing or a ppssssshhhhht sound unti redline and does this through all gears. I bought it with the ST already installed so I don't know what a regular loudmouth sounds like. Could it be the 2.5" core of the sweet thunder is just too restictive. The car sounded 100x better when I removed the factory muffler and didn't make that damn rushing air noise. Does anyone else have this set-up or know whats causing this noise???
The 2.5 core is not going to be that restrictive at all on a realitively stock car. You may want to just switch it out to the regular loudmouth...but that is wierd, you sure you just are not imagining it? lol.

I wish I was just imagining it! lol On my 99 I had a cut out and it didn;t make this sound. When I bought the LM I cut off the factory muffler and it didn't make this sound either (actually it didn't sound to bad). When I put the LM on, the sweet thunder was aleady installed. I installed just the I-pipe with ST already installed and fired up the car just to hear what it would sound like and was dissapointed right away. A lot quieter than a cut-out or no muffler at all. When I revved it I noticed this crappy kind of rushing air sound with hardly any tone to it. It reminds me of an old 70's station wagon with a 4 bbl carb. when you floor it. It does sound incredible if you run the rpm's up slowly, but once you stand on it the aggresive sound goes completly away and changes as if the air is rushing too fast through the Sweet Thunder.

Guys, I've talked to Siler02TA and his also makes that same swooooshing air sound. You might remember hearing his sound-clips of a Sweet thunder installed in I-pipe. My car does sound like his when revved up, but I hate the sound under WOT. I do remember looking inside before putting on and it is installed the correct way as stated above.

Damn, I wanted to run a Sweet Thunder in the I pipe of a Rumbler too. I was thinking about doing it for a while, then I heard Silver02TA's car and thought I'd go for it. I think it sounds awesome in his clip.....but I dont know, is this "swooshing" really that bad???

The sound really bothers me. I can't tell you if other people can hear it, as I've yet to have someone else drive the car past me. You will definetly notice in the cabin though. Put it this way, it's enough to where my wife and others will ask why the exhaust sounds like that.
