Default LS6 or fast

Im thinking of buying a set of head probrably the PRC darts and an MS3. I was just going to leave my LS6 manifold in there but then i got to thinking...am i going to leave alot on the table. Then i thought maybe i should just port the LS6 intake and call it a day. 1400 or 300? With this setup, how would you spend your money? I am willing to spend it if it will be a night and day difference.

I would keep the LS6 intake unless going bigger cubes it flows very well. I havent heard of anyone porting the LS6 intake either but I'm sure someone has. Save the money for future upgrades.

It really depends on if you're trying to get every bit of power out of your setup. I've seen dyno numbers that show 20+ rwhp gains over the LS6 intake with a heads/cam 346, and that cam was smaller than the MS3. I'm running the FAST 90/NW 90 setup with just full bolt-ons and an MS3, and there is a noticeable gain in power (cam only) over the LS6/Ported Stock TB. I haven't had it dyno tuned with the 90/90 yet, but will post up the numbers when I do. I probably didn't need the 90/90 setup right now, but I got a deal on it, and can use it again when I put a stroker in my car.

think of where you want your car to be a few years from now.. we all know once you start, you never stop.. You know you want the fast, but youre thinking, should i fork out 1200 for the fast 90 and tb.. well your going to want a ported throttle body on top of the ls6 so thats around 600 at least.. I think if your going to do heads, cam, stroker, or fi, get the fast.. that way you wont be kicking yourself in the *** in a year or 2.. ls1speed.com has fast 90 + nw 90 tb package..

I'm sure it will pick up horsepower, but I seriously doubt it's a "night and day difference". People get excited if the pick up 25 peak HP, but that's no where near enough to be a huge "night and day difference". I've done things like removing the mechanical fans on a muscle car, lids, ported TBs, UD pulleys, etc. all of which are supposed to add 5-25 HP, and even though you can feel a difference, the car isn't that much faster. Add a bunch of them up and the car is, but that one mod isn't really worth writing home about.

My friend has a 90/90 setup with a stealth cam and he flies. Kinda pisses me off to be honest. If you have the money go with the FAST. I wish I did.

I would do the Fast 90/90, but troll the For Sale forums for a bit until somebody puts one up and you'll save some money. That's how I snagged mine.

I can definitely feel the difference over my LS6 intake and ported TB. Throttle response is a whole lot crisper, and it feels more powerful across the band. Gonna try to get it to the dyno Friday for some concrete numbers. This is cam only. I got it in anticipation of the heads that I've got coming from TSP, but even if I was staying cam only I'd consider it money well spent.

Another thing to keep in mind, you will ALWAYS be able to turn around and sell the LS6 and ported throttle body on this board for as much as you paid for it (As long as you bought it used in the first place).

The intake used should run around $300, ported throttle body runs about $75 (to have yours ported). You usually can't get as good of a return on ported throttle bodies though.

With more people switching over to the FAST setup, you should be able to pick up an LS6 on here without too much trouble at all.

Is a FAST 90/90 too much for a almost stock car?

The fast 90/90 is good for a couple horse over the LS6, I like it because it allows for expansion in the future. You'll probably need a tune with it. we usually mate the Fast's with the Nick Williams TB.

A FAST setup will absolutly give you more HP, how much I am not sure. If you have the money I say what the **** and go for it. However remember, the money could be spent on better mods such as suspension or driveterrain.

I'd look towards a better clutch and flywheel and some subframe connectors if I were you.

My friend just got headers and a cheatR cam with the 90/90 and pulled a 12.20 on a stick. The 90/90 made a huge difference on his car.
