Default f.a.s.t. vs. slp

im looking to upgrade my intake ive read all the stickys on mod but the f.a.s.t. intake manifold is twice the price but its a "polymer" is the slp ls6 not if so what is it ? price is not a problem but I just ordered the slp clod air flow pac so if I I can stay "all slp" if i can but if the f.a.s.t. is an outright better product ill get the f.a.s.t. also is the 90mm tb a good upgrade or stay with stock?

You don't have any mods listed in your sig so I'm guessing you are mostly stock. On a stock car the FAST intake will SUCK.

the ls6 intake i beleive is polymer also. i know with the fast intake your supposed to get 20hp over the stock intake, and 15 hp over the LS6 intake and it can be ported, and also has direct nitrous injector ports, and its supposed to withstand more heat then the other intakes. the LS6 intake is supposed to give u 15hp over the stock intake. and theres also a BBK intake u can get thats supposed to give u anywhere from15-25 hpover the LS1 intake and made from aluminum, yeah i think the fast intake and 90mm TB would be the better way to go but then again just like u mentioned its practically double the price.

if you're going for 400 rwhp, go with the LS6 intake and ported tb.

forget about the fast stuff until you have heads and cam or a stroker.

Save the money and buy some Taco Bell. Then go to Autozone and buy some air freshener...strawberry if you can find 'em. Seriously, pay off the car and keep the maintainance up to spec and save your money. Or go to your bank and loan 5k @ $119 per month and buy a supercharger.

im not going nitrous ever so those ports are useless so Im leaning toward the slp ls6 so far .but the price really is not a factor, I know that you get what you pay for so im not tryin to go the cheap route thats is why if the lsx is bettter overall ill get it but if its not worth the price then to hell with it. and also I would like to stay with the same brands as much as possible

it's not that the ls6 is made better than the fast or vice versa, its just that you dont need to spend the extra money because you wont see any better gains for it.

check the parts for sale section for ls6 intakes....you can save $100 or more by buying one used. you'll also need the front coolant pipe and rear plugs to replace your coolant pipe.

get a used LS6 intake from a member on the for sale threads. They go anywhere from 300 to 375 shipped. Get that for now and when you are ready to go with the FAST 90, post it back up for sale on the forums. They sell like hotcakes on there

you'll need these....

http://cgi.ebay.com/LS1-TO-LS6-ZO6-L...QQcmdZViewItem

sometimes used intakes will come with them, most times they dont. you need them for whichever intake you decide to use. once you have the intake off youll see where they go. plugs go in the back, the line goes in the front.

Don't pay attention to him. Hes a hater. I would go with the SLP manifold. Your a 99 so you need the EGR provision and as far as I know the FAST manifold doesn't have that and plus why not just save the money when it's half the price ? It's not worth it in my opinion to get the FAST manifold if your only going to get 5 or so extra hp.

Don't buy the SLP. It's the same '01+ manifold but they drill the egr provision. Most people delete the egr anyway so you endup having a big plug there. Plus it's harder to sell because people would rather have the undrilled version.

Get a used LS6 manifold from the sale section here. $325 shipped. Just don't bolt up any of the egr stuff. Tuck the electrical pigtail for the egr away. It will throw a ses code without the egr hooked up, but you can find somebody with LS1edit in your area to turn that code off for you. -Joshua

Actually SLP offers the LS6 now without the egr provision and it comes with the front and real coolant plugs and the new coolant lines and manifold gaskets. I got mine shipped from SLP online for $400. Cant beat that for a brand new LS6 Manifold IMO.

Get the SLP LS6 non-egr, its $400 shipped right now from slponline.com and its brand new with everything you need for the conversion from an ls1 intake to an ls6. I have always stayed away from buying SLP parts directly from SLP and not through a sponsor as they are usually way more expensive but think about it, you can buy a used ls6, which could be chipped, damaged, etc, for 350+ shipped and still need to get the plugs and coolant lines or you can get everything brand new from slp for $400. I dunno I just dont like putting used parts on my car.
