Default Pacesetters/Motor mount install?

I'm installing my pacesetters, and on the drivers side I had to loosen up my POLY motor mount to slip that sucker in.

Do I need to re-install the heat shield that covers the motor mount? Wasn't going to bother unless it's critical.

Pretty sure I left mine in my stock parts pile in the garage.

Doesn't the heat shield protect the alternator from the heat of the longtubes?

Junk the heat shield. You probably just needed to swing the steering shaft out of the way instead of fooling with the motor mount. It takes a whole 2 minutes to do.

I just installed the driver's poly mount and I put the heat shield back in - I still have all the exhaust system shields in place. Since headers produce even more heat than the stock exhaust it makes sense to me to retain them.

I took almost all mine off after the header install. I did leave the motor mount shield on. I don't want to replace it just because I wanted to save .5 ounces.
