What's funny was that I read 00TA's description about cruising in front of the popo station and how quiet the car is (thinking wow, it must be quiet), then the clincher... I want to put an MS3 in it! It will make a helluva difference.

Just make sure you have headers. I didn't and I had a custom dual exhaust put in and everytime I came to any sort of dip in the road.........scrraaaaaaape! I'm getting headers next month and a custom Y pipe to take care of the clearance issue but other than that duals have been great!!

Unfortunately with the new cam come along a lil quieter TD Exhaust.....Stayin Duals, just a small adjustment, and different mufflers other than bullets....BUT still staying with TD's....:USA:

If I go with a true dual setup over the axle, what kind of clearance issues will I be facing? My car is lowered 1.25".

Assuming you have a 3" Y-pipe right now a properly fit and tucked away dual setup won't cost you anything. The difference will likely be that intead of one low point you will have three or so points around the same height. That was my experience, at least.

Lowering these cars with performance in mind just doesn't work well. You lose space for things like exhaust, higher capacity transmission pans and subframe connectors. It also changes the geometry of the suspension and can screw your 60' times up.

+1 on the lowering issue. While the ride height (gap from top of tyre to wheel arch) may look big the gound clearance (hight of car from the ground) is pretty low already and really doesn't need lowering for any reason except looks.

Wild 348, Pacestters, TSP 3" duals with bullets. The only negative is the ground clearance, and a little hassle, from local PD. I do have a ORY and a catback still, just in case I need to quite it down, for some reason, ie emissions. I personally think it sounds better than any y pipe set up that I have heard.

I have had two dual set-ups and neither are as nice as what I have now, LT's with dual cutouts, cats, and Flowmaster catback. The duals sounded very nice, refined, but the complete lack of ground clearance created problems. Also, they are very easy for the cops to see. My current set-up is more CA friendly.

How bad is the ground clearance with the TSP Rumbler X? Can you go over speed bumps without a problem? (my car is not lowered)

Not everyone wants a loud exhaust (hence not all aftermarket exhausts are loud ).

Also ground clearance can be an issue, and venting the exhuast under the car is not preferable to everyone (and is illegal in some places).

Also if you're so bright try fitting one of these:



And then buy an off the shelf dual kit and see if it fits - it won't!

The duals gave me more power than a y-pipe with open cutout and sounds 10 times better. Mine is loud but if you don't like loud you can put on different mufflers, mine are sweet thunders.

I agree custom is generally the way to go with duals, but this was being directed at off the shelf kits. Personally I have no problem with any setup, as people can run what they choose and I'll spend my money and run what I want. But giving info over so that people can make this decision was my aim.
