painting hearders
hey guys, i got a set of pacesetter lt's for free recently. they are coated, or stainless. i want them to last, and they already have a little bit of corrosion on them. what can i do to keep them from continuing to corrode? is there a paint that actually works?? can i have them ceramic coated? i dont know if you can do that after the fact.. any suggestions?? thanks guys.

Listen, just be glad you gott hem free and put them on the way they are or sell them and buy new ones.
Here is the deal. You pay 200 bucks or whatever to have them jet hot coated and they will still get some surface rust on them after some time.
You can probably get 250-300 for them if they are in good shape and then put that 200 - 300 you were gonna spend to get them coated and then you will have enough to get some stainless headers.

how many coats of bbq paint do you guys think would be sufficient to keep the rust from returning? granted the scrapes on the bottom are going to rust, but you could always do a little touch up if needed there.

I put some header paint on my FLP's that are ceramic coated. It did'nt hold up. It peeled right off. I even sanded it. I think the coating would need to be sanded all the way off!
