LT install prices?

LT install prices? When I get my LS1 the first area I am going to want to address is the exhaust. I want both performance and sound and am considering going with an aftermarket Y a cutout and longtubes. I was wondering how difficult and time consuming the install is of longtubes. With my Mustang GT install prices were near $400+. What is to be expected on LT installs on these LS1s?
This job is extremely easy to do. Just ensure you SAFELY get the car high enough in the air (I used some 6ton jackstands). Simply unbolt the manifolds and exhaust and out they come. To get the LT's in the only thing I had to unbolt was the steering arm and oil deverter (which is located right next to the oil filter). That driver's side was the hardest, but not difficult @ all. Take a weekend and do it yourself. Plus you'll learn things about your car on the way. Just my .02

Just did mine last week. It took me five hours. Total cost for me was 308 for the headers and the plug that goes on top of the intake for the EGR. They were pacesetter LT's. I just pulled the front up on ramps and used jack stands on the rear. I got the whole setup, jack and stands, from autozone for like 30. I went to the local exhaust shop and had a set of catless true duals for 250 with bullet mufflers. You should be looking at around 550 to 600, but thats not to bad considering I had two places in town tell me it would be around 400 for them to install the headers. The way I looked at it was that's 400 more to other mods.

I agree with everyone else. Do it yourself bro. I did an install with my friend. You don't have to be a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination to do it. I had no idea what I was doing, and they went on fine. No better way to get to know your car than to do the work yourself.

I have no jack stands, no access to a lift, limited tools and a small band aid supply (I install carpet as a second job). I have heard anyone doing this for the first time can expect the install to take anywhere from 6-12 hours. It's also said that you'll get alot of bloody knuckles and likely drop alot of F bombs
Then take into account that I works all day Sat & Sun doing carpet so installing myself could easily cost me $200-$400 in carpet install money not earned.
So in my case, I would have been stupid NOT to let New Era Performance install my headers.
Anyone in south/western NY, northern PA or NE Ohio should definately consider New Era Performance for installs, dyno-tunes and general sales. Mikes a great guy and I can't wait to get my car back to him for more upgrades

Id do it myself if I had more time and didnt live in an apartment now. Anyways a local shop in San Antonio will do it for $200 bucks...they know their stuff and are very helpful "Lethal Performance"...
