Default what gears should i go with?

This last summer i wasnt to happy with my quarter mile times high 13s. So this winter I decided to do somework . I pulled the engine out and built it up a little... 2000 6.0 ported heads.. comp cam 228/571 230/573. comp rollar rockers hardend pushrods new lifters. lingenfelter ls6 intake, slp maf sensor and lid. hooker jet hot Lts with offroad pipe. slp oil pump and doublechain kit and underdrive pulley. spec stage 2 clutch and a slp billet flywheel.. I havnt put the engind back in yet but will be going in this month when i get the time to finish.. everything else i have is stock..Im kinda out of money and im worried about my stock rear. I still want the car to be streetable but good in the quarter are 410 gears too low? do u think I can get into the 12s with this set up? i could use anyhelp thanks

If you don't hit 12's with that setup, there is something wrong. 11's are not that far away either, if you don't hit them.

With that kind of power (or even stock lol), you will shatter the 10 bolt behind a 6-speed car. Leave the 3.42's in untill you can get a 12-bolt. A beefier rear end allows you to run sticky tires, bang gears, dump the clutch, etc. without worring constantly about having your rear end grenade.

I would think mid-high 11's would be possible with that setup if you added some drag radials. Blur is right about the 10-bolt though. It wont last long with all that power if you run it hard. A 12 bolt is a must. Also, 4.10s are great and you will definatley feel them...they pull like a sumbitch. Good luck with you setup!

4.10's and sticky tires are nothing but fun. When you start making power, and get the rev limiter raised, 50mph in 2nd gear with 4.10's is no joke. Even the imports that like to go from 40mph rolls due to their gearing, get crushed when the LS1 is turning 4000 in 2nd at that speed.

My car goes 12.0's on a shitty 1.95 60' cam only, that should cheer you up. I could hit an 11.80 with a 1.75 if i practice more. I make about 400rwhp, and your setup (guessing here) probably makes 430ish depending on how nice the port job is, but it could very well make more (450ish).

10-bolt = "pussified" no matter what you do to it really. You can go 9" or 12 bolt for the rear and be a safe bet away from making it down the strip in one piece.

11s..lol thats nice to wake up to..I was already planning on getting some sort of wheel and tire set up I have 17 inch TT2s on it now and i was having a problem with hooking up at the launch.. Im sure that was also killing my Qt.
Ohh I forgot a put A break line lock in last year so I could smoke my tires a little more but it didnt last long my slave cylinder broke after my second time using it. thats the day the car went into the garage for the mods. So what your saying if I get the wheels and tires now that rear prob wouldnt last long at all if even one launch at higher RPMs... Well the fastest I ever gone is pretty much what the stock 98 TA did. So this summer should be fun.

thanks for all the Help Ill need it LOL

you can always ease it out of the hole.but alot of times that's hard to do,everyone wants to give it the 5k launch of death to the 10 bolt.
