I've removed both layers of baffles in the hood, but not before I made these:

Just keep em in the car, toss em in if it looks like rain!

No baffles at all for over a year... run the black screens on the street. No problems at all.
I frequently drive home to Flroida.. and have driven in some serious "sideways" rain.. going straight at the front of the car... without any trouble.

When I still had my T/A, I cut the baffles out and then bought a piece of plexiglass from Home Depot. I drilled two holes, and I could install it with two bolts and wingnuts. I had ram air all of the time and threw the plate in if it got cloudy out.

If you just take out the front baffle you won't have a problem. But if you take out the back baffles as well water will get on the filter. If you have a K&N or something similar water won't likely get past it. But it will soak through a paper filter.
I have the Brian Green Ram Air mod and it works great. Seals the nostrils to the airbox with a gasket for a air tight seal, and it comes with a rain blocker plate you can snap in if it rains. I never drive my car in the rain though, so I'll never have that problem.

I have the rain blocker plate but car doesn't get driven in rain..have got caught in some a few times..I heard its good idea to also use a k and n or holley or accel or amsoil type filter..all those above are foam and oil or gauze and oil types..I also have Brian Green mod and no baffles.

Why do people insist that water wont get past a K&N filter but it will get past a stock one. The K&N is oiled and oil DOES NOT absorb waterit REPELS it. The water will go right past the filter. The paper will wick it up. True oil does protect from water, but the filter is porous. How do you figure air gets past and water wont?
