Default Alternator removal

What do I have to do to get this basterd off?!

Its the ground in the back of the alternator. Looks like I need to get another wrench on the lower nut but there is no way I can fit one in there? I am seriously lost right now lol.

I believe you should be able to remove the 2-3 large 15mm bolts(on the front of the engine) holding the whole mounting assembly to the block and then the 1/2" bolt on the back side of the alternator. That should remove the whol alternator assembly.

Yeah I got all the bolts removed. It just that one in the back with the ground wire. Its the only thing keeping me from removing it all together.

Like when I get a wrench on the bolt and try to turn while holding the ground still...nothing happens. Otherwise the ground just turns with the bolt...cant believe I am lost on this.

LOL!!

I am trying to do the SAME THING believe it or not. I believe those bastard engineers don't want us taking this thing off!!

On top of the fact that you get get to that nut behind the ground cable, I believe that nut is loctited on there. At least it appears so on mine. I'm afraid to twist too much on that outside nut since there might be a wire inside that it might rip apart.

I'm braking for the evening and start again tomorrow. Let me know what you find out. I'll do the same...

Hahahaha yes! I am not the only one.

I was able to get something in there to hold the ground tight enough so I can crank on the nut...nothing though - that bitch is on there good.

Yeah, I just tried it again. No luck. I need a wrench thats about half as thin as the one I have, then I think I could do it. Whoever put mine on must have used that red loctite, the stuff that don't come off.

I can't believe there are no existing threads on this topic. I've already tried searching.

Remove the little pully right above the alternator to get to the bolt to the alternator bracket. Don't remove the bracket. Just loosen the bolt. Once it's loose, you can jimmy the alternator out. Be careful, remember there is a ONE wire plug attacht to the top of the alternator. That should give you a better angle to get that ground wire off.

^^^It's just the ground cable we're having trouble with.

I got mine off finally, but it wasn't easy. That bitch was loctited on there with the red stuff (permanent). Unfortunately, it took the threads of the bolt off too. Dammit

I was able to get another 13 mm wrench (a 1/2" will work too) in there by forcing the wrench in there and the plastic gave way to the wrench. That probably doesn't make sense, but I just had to "work with it".

Its makes sense. I was thinking that there was a flap or something that you could push down where you are talking about...**** I should just break away that plastic cause this is bugging me!

Sorry to hear that though...you got it off atleast?! lol
