Default Took out the A/C yesterday....

Overall it was pretty easy...only thing I had to go get was a T-40 torx bit for that damn bracket...

It took me and one other person who was handing me tools probably 45 mins - 1 hour...well worth it though, slowly but surely the front end feels like a feather..

What was the talk about not being able to use the front defroster...I turned the **** on and it was blowing air up there....

Yea, I would take it out...it makes the free ram air mod finally come to life...air damn shoots straight up to the radiator and now right up to the airbox...

Its all about 50 pounds total...well 48..

did you remove the evaporator and the box around it on the rear passenger side? i took the evaporator out one day but couldnt figure out how to get the box around it out so i put the evaporator back in since it only weighed a couple pounds.
i would like to remove it to free up the space on the passenger side.

How hard is it to get it back in later on? Is the thing acutally bolted in or does it have the non-reusable clamps on it like some of the hoses? I was thinking of pulling mine last night. Up here in Washington, you might only need the AC 2x's a year. I didnt use it once last year. If its that hot, the T-tops should be off!

How can it be only 30 pounds, the compressor it self feels like 30 pounds or at least 20...I would say well over 40 pounds for all of it..

I don't think I removed that, I removed everything in the engine bay that had to do with A/C..

Condenser, Compressor, All lines, brackets....

That's the heater core. It's another 30#, but a hassle to take out, and you lose your heater/fan.

ok, you know where the lines run from the accumulator to the black box, that what im talking bout. the heater core is under the glove box and i dont think it weighs anywhere near 30# as i have removed it before unless your counting the coolant in it which i still dont think it weighs anywhere near that. or am i all mixed up. anyway i thought that the black box was the evaporator which is what i want out cause the AC lines ran to it so it IS part of the AC. anyone follow me LOL

OK!! WHEW!! was that a biotch. well i went ahead and kept taking **** apart and got the dash pulled out somewhat and fought with it till i could get the passenger air bag out

THEN...i took all the freaking screws bolts and all kinds of crap to get the evaporator casing off. Now i got a big 4ss hole im gonna have to cover up with something..any ideas? spark plugs changes will be easy from the INSIDE of the car LOL

dont think anybody should do this though, this is really hardcore IMO and the biggest PITA ever. 10x harder than the cam swap was. very freaking tight fit in there so if anyone trys this have fun
man my car is so freakin light now with all the front end weight ive removed

HAVE FUN!!
