Re: Finally did the TB bump-stop mod.
It should be at the top of everyone's list because I have seen some blades that were obviously not checked before they left the assembly line. They were horrible!!

Re: Finally did the TB bump-stop mod.
go out to your car and open the throttle body all the way until it hits the metal piece and wont open anymore. thats the bump stop now check and see if the blade is 90 degrees when its against the bump stop. if not grind the metal piece with a dremel or something until the blade is 90 degrees when its against the bump stop. also check with autotap to see what your throttle voltage is. i havent checked with autotap yet but mine is 90 degrees now and it noticeably wasnt before.

I may be looking at the wrong place... but my "bump stop" has a little screw that it contacts. I don't think I have to grind anything down as much as simply finding a hex wrench to adjust the screw.

Biochem,
That screw is the idle set screw. The Bump-Stop is the metal part of the TB that get TB blade shafts hit when you open it fully. With it opened fully the blade should be at a 90 degree angle to the TB.
Hope this helps.

Re: Finally did the TB bump-stop mod.
Where do you check the voltage on the TB?? What should the volts read? And is the "bump stop" actually inside the TB where the blade/butterfly is?? maybe im just clueless and am looking in the wrong spot...please advise...thanks.

Finally did the TB bump-stop mod.
Didn't think it was that big of a deal, but man - I was only getting 4.3 volts! I grinded the crap out of the thing and I'm still at 4.5, but I'm afraid to go farther. It looks just right. And maybe it's my imagination, but I would swear I can feel it, and the car seems louder at WOT. Plus, my O2's are a little lower at WOT. They've alway's been a little rich.
I would rank it way up there on the mod list. Ecpecially since it's free...

Re: Finally did the TB bump-stop mod.
I've read about this for a while and I've got a question. If you go too far, why could not bend the metal tab out that is on the throttle shaft? For that matter, could you bend it to get it to open more? Just curious. You may not be able to bend it to get it to open more the way it's made, but surely you could bend it to fix over zealous grinding. Any opinions?

It's possible you could fix over-grinding by bending the throttle shaft. You could also glob a little JB Weld on the stop. Either way should be fine.

Re: Finally did the TB bump-stop mod.
With a Volt meter the positive side of the volt meter goes to the blue wire on the position sensor, the black goes to black. I used a file instead of a dremel to cut down the throttle stop. It was alot easier and made a nicer cut. Also easier to take a little material at a time out or a lot depending on the amount of pressure applied. My voltage is at 4.68. You need to check it against the stop thne with someone pressing the gas pedal. You may have to adjust the linkage to get the full amount of throttle.

Re: Finally did the TB bump-stop mod.
I checked mine last night and, as best I can tell, is as close to full-open square as it is going to get. Bummer - I was hoping for some extra HP.
Since the only point is just to get the throttle blade parallel to the airflow I don't figure there is any point in checking the voltage.
