Any adverse effects to removing the AIR pump?

My car hasn't had cats in over 2 yrs <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> . Thanks for the info, the AIR pump will come off...

I have had mine off for a number of months and I don't even get the "check engine light" anymore. Its wonderful <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Your catalytic converter needs the oxygen being injected into the manifold in order to work properly. Without it over time it will damage your catalytic converter affecting performance.

The air pump only comes on during start-up, and once in a blue moon while driving. My air-pump exhaust is disconnected, so I KNOW whenever it turns on.
I always thought that the air pump was for California emmissions regulations.... am I wrong on this one?
