Default Oil Pressure!?

Hey guys,

Just finished putting in my intake manifold after breaking an oil sensor switch. I bought a new switch and put it in, reassembled everything, started it up and my oil pressure is reading at 60psi in idle... anyone have any suggestions?

the needle will rise a little when i rev

If you are starting it cold and it reads that, it is probly correct. Let it run for a few mins. and see if it comes down after the oil is warmed up.

Mine will ride at about 60psi idle on a cold start...At normal operating temp,it will ride at about just a bit over the 40psi idle mark...

I know the guages are a bit different for 98's (the temp for instance) but from your name it looks like you have a 00' like myself...

I know it sounds strange but, does it fluctuate at all (downward) lets say if the idle would drop?Like maybe with the parking break on,put the car in gear and slowly let the clutch start to catch so it will bring your rpm down (but don't let it stall). When it goes down, notice if the guage fluctuates any lower??

Just a stupid idea to see if it will go downward at all...

When i did my first intake change I did the same noob thing and broke that switch. When I replaced the switch I got more presure as well. I was happy because i assumed that the new one was not clogged as the old one could have been. I would not worry. Mine reads 60 when i start and drops to 40 after it warms up and moves higher as i rev it. If its readin 0 then worry.

60 is perfectyl normal- go rive it and let it stay hot, so basically take a decent length trip, stop somewhere eat go back. My T/A is @ 60 stock and retains that pressure for a good amount of time i drive 15-20 min to get to school and usually itll eventually drop to 45-50 when i am returning home after school lets out.

I replaced mine after the intake swap, got the same results, except mine goes down once the car heats up. I was happy the pressure was reading higher. never goes below 38-40 now. don't sweat it.

Not to steal the thread but mine is here within the normal. I always make sure the car's oil pressure is dropped between 40-45 (is it measured in psi) before I get on the car at all. Am I being too overly concerned or is this the right think to do?
