Default Quick Time electric cutout(s)

I have a 2001 z-28...pretty much stock.....and I want to run straight headers...just for sound. I know you lose low end, but I dont really care... my question is, can you get these electric cutouts, and make them run straight headers, on a stock exhaust system?? Would I need a new Y pipe to make these cutouts fit? My friend took off his Y pipe on his new sierra, and it sounded badass.. if this wont work, how can I make it sound loud as hell, without spending a lot of money. I have one regular cutout before the muffler, but its not loud enough. Thanks for your help guys.

Open headers sound cool for about 5 minutes. Then they get really annoying since everthing inside the car vibrates. On the freeway, that drone will give you a headache.

Get some headers and and offroad Y-pipe, install a 2.5" cutout on both sides of the Y, put some 2.5" QTEC cutouts on each side. Then you can have it loud anytime you want, and be able to make it quiet.

Cutouts=CRAP. At least for me. I have a setup very close to Tony's on my impala SS. Went to the track and un capped thoose bad bays. OMFG!!! Loud is a understatement!!! My car must have been the loudest at HRP!!! Running 12.40's.. Ever see thoose loud turds running only 12's that was me needless to say i bolted them back on and made the rest of my runs ill let a dyno tell me if it is worth it!

why would you want your car to be obnoxious like that? It's just begging for cops to harass you for having an exhaust thats illegal. I like my car being quit and sounding stock then I can open my qtec if I wanna do some intimidating <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

with the Q-tecs he can make it quiet any time he wants to. I have a similar setup and it sounds awesome. Much deaper than any other ls1 exhaust combo i have heard. And I get compliments all the time, from other ls1's, and other cars.

I've got cut-outs after each header and damn it's loud, I love being able to hear the cam good since normally I can't since it's the stocker and it's so fun to be extremely loud somtimes. I don't have drone on the highway but going through the neighborhood at 20mph is the worst drone ever, it feels like your ears are going to explode, like someone just put a subwoofer in front of your ears, I like it other than that though, I just don't open them too much for fear of cops. I won't have a problem when I get qtecs but no money right now so I don't have them. Here is a pic of each side:

Damm I like that FLP setup looks clean.
I see no cats do they replace the cutouts
when you need to get the test?

I'm not sure you have clearance for the Qtec on the FLP cutouts.

I have the cut-outs pointing out now so I can undo them just by laying down beside the car but when I can get the qtecs, I will turn the cut-outs inward so I have more ground clearance and can fit the qtecs onto them, I just hope that's not bad for the floorboard since the exhaust gasses will be hitting it. To get the cut-outs put on, I had to take off the offroad pipes and just give those to the shop because they couldn't work on a car with no cats. The guy did a good job and I like them alot, best of all, all the work he did was only $60 bucks! Alot cheaper than buying two flowtech cut-outs and them having them installed by someone.
