coolant question
i put some prestone stuff in after i did the cam swap (the green stuff). i put 50/50 in. i have a 160 thermo and my cars running at 202 degrees (off a-tap) and the under the hood seems really hot. is that from the coolant, or from the extra compression from the heads (11.3)? should i throw the stock stuff back in?
Did you reprogram your fans to come on any earlier? I think the stock temp for the fans is 205 or something. Extra compression would make extra heat, but 11.3 should not be a problem.
the fans are programmed for a lower thermo- they are always going.
i know they arent compatable-there was a little left, but i was planning in flushing it again to get all the gasket out.
should i go back to dexcool, or keep the green stuff?

I know that with lexus, if you dont use toyota coolant, it will ruin the water pump. Im not sure if the same holds true for GM, but i wouldnt take the chance.. put the orange stuff back in

You should definatley go back to dexcool. Dexcool is made to prevent corrosion in an aluminum engine. It also flows a little smoother causing less friction, in turn coolin' more effeciently. Also, if your car is under warranty, it could void it.

Well Roy, you got your answer already! I can't believe you mixed Green stuff with Orange stuff.
Silly boy!
You specifically need Dexcool (or Tang as I call it) in our cars, unless you powerflush the whole system and convert back to the good ol Ethyl Glycol (green stuff).
