Now Working!: Sound Clips: FLP Headers with GMMG/ Open Headers
I finally got some clips of the 2 exhaust set-ups on my car. The clips aren't as great as I'd like but they're pretty good. For the revs, I need to get back a little further though. If the clips don't work, then I'm screwed cuz I don't know anywhere else to store them, I just hope they work. I had the car in the garage when I did this so next time I'll back out and get some more clips that will sound better. Enjoy:
Dual Cutouts right after FLP headers:
Idle
Revving to 2,000rpms, taken too close, it's really loud so I didn't go any higher so neighbors don't get mad
FLPs/no cats/GMMG:
Idling
Revving to 3,000rpms, once again, neighbors so I didn't go any higher

Re: Now Working!: Sound Clips: FLP Headers with GMMG/ Open Headers
Thank you; that sounds bad ***! I'm getting this exact setup put on within the next month or so. I've looked everywhere for sound clips but to no avail. I know that GMMG has some but I didn't know what kind of work they had done to the cars (ie heads, cam, etc.). I have basically the same setup that you do, stock with a few modifications. This was the exact sound clips that I've been searching for over a month now. One question though, do you happen to have an excess of drone inside the car while cruising? Not that it really matters at this point, I was just curious. I think that I’ve made the correct decision to go with the FLP headers and GMMG cat back. Again, thank you for taking the time to record the sounds. It’s nice to know that I can be right every now and again.

It might just be my car but I have less drone than I did before I had the headers put on, when your just cruising at one rpm, it's dead quiet, to my ears anyways, maybe they just got used to it? You'll deffinately have fun with this set-up

sorry friend GMMG is just plain trash and what i mean by that it does's nothing for the car if you want true preformance go with the Borla.FLP's are the best on the market. i have FLP's and thay sound great as far as GMMG it sound's killer no dout about that. but it does nothing for the car far as speed. i belive some gye tested it out and he had paper's saying that it did not give out as much HP as other muffler's out there did... on the other hand my car now as it stand's on a hot day with Borla in the ***98 to 100 heat*** the car ran 13.2 all day not badim well happy with it on a cool day 12's all the way

That I pipe muffler is gone and the GMMG flows just as good as anything else. It's also got the best sound around. Borla has a muffler, GMMG doesn't. Part of the exhaust HAS to go through the muffler, even with no plate or it wouldn't be 50 state legal!

Blue Fire's postings.
[Blue Fire]I know a guy who has papers that said the GMMG is worse than everybody else exhaust.
Yeah,ok prove it.
The GMMG doesn't even have baffles in it, BUT THE BORLA DOES!
The GMMG has little nicks in the pipe along the pipe to slow down the air which in effect tunes it, and the rest of the exhaust air goes just straight through the two chambered mufflers without hitting anything.
Do some research moron before you blast a product you know nothing about.

That is some of the stupidest stuff I've ever heard because you have absolutely NO clue what your talking about. If you don't have anything decent to say besides your own opinion(which you made clear like 10 different post ago), then stay out of these threads.

I just got those links to work and your car w/GMMG sounds SWEET! The idle/reving was very deep/throaty and sounded better than most of the other LS1's I've heard on the net or in person. I bet the GMMG has a really clean sound with highflow cats(although quieter) instead of offroad pipes.

Anyway your input was MUCH more productive than the stuff Blue Fire was spouting.
How many times are we going to beat the living shyte out of this extremely not-living horse? The MAX horsepower variation you'll see between aftermarket catbacks is around 5 horsepower. That falls within dyno error, car-to-car variation, or driver skill when you line 'em up. Besides 5 horsepower is less than 2% variation on an LS1! That 5 horse is probably a big deal to a 170hp 4-banger, but it's a fart in the breeze for an LS1.
As an interesting side note, my SLP LT's into GMMG setup (yeah so call be biased now) proved to me what a difference the tips of your exhaust make. All that added sound pressure and air speed really affects the tone when I take my GMMG tips on or off. I have a hard time describing it, but it's definately different. Haven't decided on my favorite yet.
