Exclamation K&N FIPK vs. Air Lid

I was looking to upgrade my stock air filter and/or air box assembly. I was wondering which you guys prefer? The K&N FIPK kit, or just an upper box lid with smooth bellow? Any info on power gains would help!!! Thanks Guys, James

I would stick with a lid...cheaper and will give you about the same power IMO.

I bought the fipk when they first came out. I think they perform just as well as a lid plus I think it looks cool as hell.

I have a lid now and a fipk laying around. I always ended up having oil getting on the maf plus I got higher iats with the fipk over the lid.

i think the lid would probably be your best bet, but if you dont mind spending the 250 bones get the fipk. i would have probably bought one my self if i had the extra money...

I don't know about how the FIPK performs compared to a lid, but the FIPK looks outstanding in my opinion. It is expensive thought and cleaning the filter and putting that red oil **** on is a huge pain in the ***.

Did you notice any difference in throttle response between the slp lid and the fipk?

I never really noticed any throttle response difference between the two but I have only drove the car like twice since the SLP has been on (transmission is bein rebuilt and beefed up a little) but if anyone is interested I will take $100 for the FIPK plus shippin I just recharge it is in great shape email me for pics. xtremeracingz28@yahoo.com

Thanks for your help guys. Now another question, I don't have the larger lower intake box. I have the smaller one, but I do have a functional Ram Air hood. Would you think that the lid would be less effective, given the smaller opening?

Because the Ram Air cars have an opening in the front of the hood and the air getting to the FIPK should be cooler.

That was always my problem with the FIPK...Without Ram Air isin't it just pulling hot engine air? I went with the lid and the SLP CAI.

So you can pull hot air from in front of the radiator instead?
