Hey I am about to get some FLP's here in a couple of weeks and I'm going to try to post some befor and after exhaust sound waves for everyone to hear. Nothing has been done inside the engine so it is all stock besides my borla cat-back and well you can see below. I can't wait to get them I want raw sounding exhaust,I want to make every one turn and look even more then they do now with just my borla.
I will post it soon.

From what I have seen, the most powerful cars around are using grots. Two cars in Waco are running 120+ mph with BOLTONS, two LS1s with stock heads dynoed over 400 rwhp with grots and the list goes on. Who cares about the Y-pipe quality when you can fab an X-pipe setup? They are almost impossible to get a hold of however.

the fastest F-Bods I've seen use Dynatech headers. These are essentially the undressed, strickly track version of the FLPs. look at them side by side, they look identical. I'd say FLPs are the way to go. Most long tubes will net you good horsepower. I have yet to date seen a side by side comparision. Honestly you'd have to have a ton of disposable income to put something like that together. I think the FLP has by far the best package deal, but most choke over the price. If you can muster the coin, you get everything you need in one deal.

JMHO,
Mike

BADZ,
Not sure if many folks have facts regarding flow numbers, etc. Seems to me that most people endorse the headers that they happen to have on their particular setup. Its certainly an expensive and time-consuming process to switch headers several times just for the purpose of seeing which one makes the most power.

So, with that said I would think that in theory (famous last words, right ) Dynatechs with their merge collectors or 1-7/8 Grotts, which must have about the best flow capacity of any LS1 header I've seen, must be tops.

I hate to burst your bubbles guys but I've talked to countless SE racers,SAM engineering and a couple of his good friends.

Here is what I was told
Dynatechs are too big for a 346
FLP"S even though they r esstentially Dyna's have a smaller collector and make better power.

Grots with there good tube design plus a 2.5in collector are very very good.

TTS again use a good tube design and a 2.5in collector.Excellent header...

MACS probably the best header for a 346 with its 2.5in collector and its small Y that makes tremendous velocity.

Do u see what I'm getting at.
A 2.5in COLLECTOR is the way to go on a 346
Along with a 2.5in Y to a transition merge of 3in.....

Dyno test were done to confirm this theory.
I lost 12RWHP going to STEPPED Dynas from the little old MACS.....

All I did was port the MACS and add the transition merge to the MAC ORY..

Do what u want but I trust these people and I've dynoed this stuff too.

IMO,GROTS,FLP,TTS,MAC are the way to go but only in the 1 3/4in and no bigger than a 2.5in collector...

You lost power below ~4600RPM....When you are shifting a car (especially an M6) at 6500RPM the tach will never drop below 4600RPM and in fact gain power on the top end! This is well worth the trade.

I was talking about the bigger STEPPED Dynas...
The car picked up 5RWHP from 5400 to 6500 but lost 12RWHP/12RWTQ from 3900 to 5400...

The Stepped Dynas were using a CUSTOM 3in Y
The Macs were using a 2.5in Y w/a 3in MERGE.

This has been confimed by DYNO results

"Judson Massingill" from SAM also confimed this to be true,His results were a loss of 7RWHP/7RWTQ too going from a MAC/Custom Y to a STEPPED Dyna on a 10.70 car...

I agree with u guys that a 1 3/4 LT is better than a midlength but not as much as think on a 346 and a 3in Collector is too big...

I should say this is JUST AN OBSERVATION so u guys dont get mad,But it has been FACTUALLY tested. This is not hearsay.....

Talk to Patrick G if u dont believe me
