Default Front seal leak after ASP install...

Just got an ASP crank pulley on my car last week. I had another guy help me do it and he was under the car for most of the time doing the work. We double checked everything and the torque and everything was correct. I noticed a slight oil burning smell and upon further investigation realized it was leaking from the front seal. What do I need to do? There are no drips underneath where I park my car. Could it just be oil from the initial install where we put oil on it to lube everything first?

Also, when looking at the pulley while the car is running. The center, brushed aluminum, section looks like it is rotating very smoothly however the black part has a little vibration to it. Is this normal?

I'm just concerned and want to make it right.

BTW, the car was AutoTapped nearly a week and a half after the install and there was no knock retard at all.

Anybody have a part number on that seal? Can I get them at a local parts store or do I need to get it through the dealer?

It is normal for the outer ring to have up to .010 runout from the inner hub. The ring is mounted in molded rubber and just wont run totally true to the inner.

As far as your leak. If it is not leaking on the ground you may have leaked some out when the factory pulley was removed. Did you lub the OD of the underdrive per instructions? This can damage a seal if not properly lubed before installation. If it is not dripping I would wait a few days and see if what you are seeing is left from the installation.

Yeah, we coated that thing with oil before putting it back in. I'll wipe off all of the existing oil when I get home and drive it for a while to see if it continues to leak. Maybe that's all it is.

I'd like to have that part # though, just in case.

I pulled off my stock balancer when I did my b1 cam and put it back on ..no leak at the seal..I pulled it off and then put on asp and no leak so far..wonder if it gets wrecked from people prying off the old balancer not carefully.I can't remember if we lubed it up when we put the new one on..it went on easy enough..oh well bought a spare seal they are cheap and will check it next time I am under there for the coming header install. No knock retard with my pulley either and I have been nailing the car hard to check for it.
No problems at all..
