SLP vs Whisper
HEy Guys, I can't make up my mind between the two airlids. I really need some feedback please. SLP is cheaper than whisper but whisper offers a really tight seal. Normally, one would think the other is more expensive for a reason right ? SLP claims up to 10 HP and whisper up to 15HP. Fianlly, will i need an emissions filter for a 2002 ws6 like lgmotorsports says for their airlid. Thanks, your feedback will help in making a final decision.

Re: SLP vs Whisper
hey 2000ls1 the reason why your whisper lid wont stay shut is because it not in the grove on the front of the bottom air box the edge of the lid fits in that grove. i had the same problem with mine it kept pissing me of till i finaly got it. and to g force if you go to thunder racing .com they have the whisper lid k&n air filter and k&n air pump filter for like 170 bucks for the kit its a pretty good deal.

Re: SLP vs Whisper
I bought the SLP lid and I am not happy. It does not seal well. In addition, the hold-down clips often snap in the open position after the car is driven a while. ALthough power is increased some, I would rate it a very poor fit and would avoid it all together! Go with something that fits since all the lids produce about the same power increase...

Re: SLP vs Whisper
I had a whisper..it did seem to fit fine and you have to have the lip right or it won't shut properly ..but mine got cracks and I don't abuse it,little ones and the tabs were very cheap..think is super overpriced if you ask me.Have direct flo now its good quality ,no problems at all..it was a bit hard to get on very first time but now it comes off and goes on easy.
Happy..

Re: SLP vs Whisper
I'll have to say go with the Direct-Flo lid from ls1 motorsports. Mine fits perfectly fine and comes with the little filter. Check out the air lid polls on this site or ls1info.com. Last I looked, the Direct-Flo was on top. So many people can't be wrong

Re: SLP vs Whisper
ok i HAVE decided. I'm going with Direct-flow. Wow thanks guys for all your feedback. My decision was based on the poll, the fact that some whisper lids cracked, and the fact that some people had trouble getting their slp sealed. Now I have to decide whether to get a K&N filter or a holly.

Re: SLP vs Whisper
My MTI lid fits great, even after a few years of punishment.
I have seen some Whisper lids rub the underside of hoods.
Peace,
Craig.

Re: SLP vs Whisper
I'm very happy with my MTI clear lid. I am a little concerned about the plastic tabs in the rear becoming brittle with age, but no problems so far
