catalytic converter question.... i have a 99 t/a, i ran over somethin on the highway the other day that my local shop checked out n said it knocke my pipe up and busted my passenger cat, and that i need to buy a new one. he said factory cats from pontiac are 450. i found an aftermarket cat here http://www.motorsporttech.com/fbody_exhaust01.asp scroll down to the high flow cat.
my question is.... with an slp loudmouth system, can my damaged factory cat simply be removed and replaced by this one on the link i just showed? i'd much like to save the extra $260 if possible. or are there any other options to replace the damaged passenger cat for a cheaper price?? thanks a bunch.

If you really want cats, get them off ebay, far cheaper than the dealer, plus you can get high flow ones too
Or just get some pipe, and some sims and run with no cats
(FYI the loudmouth will really be loud and raspy with no cats)

man! alot of those "master scam artists" i mean mechanics will tell you u need all kinds of **** that you dont..i dunno cats are pretty tough to **** up unless they die out...go with a set of LTs and a ORY with simulators!

if it banged up your y-pipe pretty good too then i would go with a new y-pipe. In my opinion i would go with an off road y and get rid of the cats. If you dont have the funds for long tubes right now i know i saw an off road y-pipe for stock exhaust manifolds. I will find it and get back to you.

i just saw that texas speed and performance is selling pacesetter longtubes and off road y-pipe together for $500....just to give you a heads up. Just be careful.....i wouldn't spend a lot of money replacing a stock catalytic converter.
